This was the perfect cozy spot to nip into for an afternoon snack after visiting the library. The hot chocolate and lemon poppyseed pound cake were both excellent. Plenty of seating was available. Kid friendly: milk boxes are available in the cold beverage case, and there is a whole bookcase of kids books for smaller patrons to enjoy. Will definitely be back!

EVP Coffee is almost next door to the Sequoya branch of the Madison Public Library. Coffee shops and libraries are a match made in heaven. This is very much a neighborhood coffee shop, with lots of locals coming regularly.
I just discovered the homemade granola, which is nutty and not too sweet. Newspapers are available, as is a small section that is useful to keep children entertained.

Staff is always incredibly friendly and they have great coffee, we purchase the whole beans frequently and they have a great variety roasted fresh and often. Their food is great too, wonderful scones and fun varieties of different soups. They're wonderful for large events and have been very generous to neighboring communities with donations and space use. I recommend EVP to anyone.

Great coffee, friendly staff, good pastries, great location. My favorite coffee in Madison.

Love this little coffee shop in my neighborhood. Also love that it is next door to the library!

I found EVP when I moved to Madison in 2016, and it was a regular stop for me on my way to work in the morning for almost 4 years. The lattes were always perfectly made (mocha or pumpkin spice were my go-to), bakery items were also delicious (don't hesitate on the cookies), and the employees were always super friendly and efficient. It was nice to go to a place where the employees would remember your name/drink order, it felt like a much more personalized experience and a warm environment. I moved right after the pandemic started (back to the east coast) and EVP is definitely a fond memory of my time living in Madison. I didn't get a chance to go back before I moved due to the pandemic, but I have been ordering EVP espresso beans online (very quick shipping), and now that I'm pregnant, the decaf espresso beans. It reminds me of Madison, and is the next best thing to getting a latte in person.

Great coffee, friendly folks, only downside is the environment is very loud even with just three customers inside. Lots of coffee-making noises (banging, pounding, hissing) that really fill the space and could distract from reading/conversation. If you are okay with the noise and enjoy a good cup of Joe, this place is perfect!

We popped in after a library pickup a few days ago solely to pick up a hot chocolate for my daughter’s teacher. We ended up leaving with three hot chocolates, two cute Valentine sugar cookies, a punch card for future free drinks and the best experience. The owner was working and is incredibly kind. She made sure the hot chocolate was immediately drinkable for my kids and they said it was one of the best cookies they’ve ever had. Looking forward to stopping in today for drinks and treats. We’ve found our favorite coffee shop.

Best, and freshest, coffee in Madison. The atmosphere at all of the shops is unparalleled and it’s clear that the business is built off of a philosophy of love and kindness rather than a singular focus on profit. This philosophy is really what makes EVP stand out from any coffee shop that I’ve ever been to.

I loved the convenience and service of EVP Coffee! I was in town visiting family and I could walk to this coffee shop! The vibe was cozy and the vanilla latte with the extra shot of espresso was perfectly prepared and they even had oat milk! They open at 7am so don't show up too early!
