Stumbled on this place as we were walking back from a meeting and decided to try it out.
I ordered the curry bowl and green tea. Absolutely loved the curry bowl. It’s made up of black rice, curried cauliflower, fingerling potatoes, crispy chickpeas, scallion, cilantro, curry dressing. You can have it as a vegan meal or add chicken to it.
The curry was so flavorful and I couldn’t stop eating it. The green tea was also so refreshing. I will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.
Tried one of their bowls. They charged $3.50 for tofu which turned out to be about five unseasoned pieces. The bowl itself fairly small for the price tag ($16) and the sauce was too sour to be edible.
The avocado toast here is delightfully simple and absolutely delicious. On campus food selection is limited and this place has short wait times and tasty selections. This is my favorite lunch spot on this side of campus.
Update: after avoiding Aldo’s for a year, I decided to give it another try today. The rice bowl is swimming in an extremely vinegary dressing. I tried to literally wring out the rice and eat it, but it is once again inedible.
This place used to be great, but has really gone downhill. I just had the $9 warm grain bowl, which could more accurately be described as soup, given the large amount of extremely salty dressing. The sesame seeds were also very stale, and the meal was inedible. I used to be a regular here but I won’t be returning.
I used to like Aldo's, but it's gotten much worse since its facelift. Sandwiches were replaced by overpriced bowls that are not great, merely acceptable. Right now I am eating a coucous bowl with severely undercooked "roasted" squash (it's crunchy!) The soups are still good and a reasonable price for a bowl. However, the sandwiches and bowls are increasingly too expensive and of poor execution. Please go back to the old Aldo's!
Food is extremely overpriced and average at best. A slice of quiche was $7.50 and was so salty I didn't finish it. I've tried a few of their sandwiches/bowls as well, which have all been really disappointing. Coffee is okay, but I prefer the unions.
The service could not be worse and ruder. Brought in two invited visitors, who were not pleased. Hopefully the owner and administration know that they don’t at all represent people at uw-Madison who are kind and professional.

Overall best coffee shop on the UW campus, situated in the beautiful WID. Good coffee and several good food options.

The food is good but definately not worth the price.
