This is a very new business to town and I'm glad I stumbled upon it! Beautiful artwork, comfy chairs, gourmet house roasted coffee, and elegant chocolates. I got a key lime white chocolate that was impressively good and an Amaretto cappuccino that had nice, coffee-forward flavor without a dredge of sugary syrups as many places tend to do. 10/10 would come back again, but with a book to read.

This is a really beautiful space with lots of seating! Owner is a Seattle transplant that has been roasting coffee for 17 years. Nice fruity roast. Top notch products used.

I really want to like this place, and would change my rating if they made a couple changes. Decor is nice, colorful and warm. Small area outside to sit. They have a few treats to complement the coffee inside, though I did not partake. The rest are cons:

The place to get in line is unclear due to the irregular layout; simple signage would help us find the register. The coffee by cup is overpriced for the market, even with inflation. $5 per 12 oz and $4.50 for 8 oz plain drip ensures I won't be back. For a roaster, I'm surprised there wasn't more effort put in to what drip I was drinking, like the name, in case I wanted to buy beans or build a profile for your blends. Oddly, if you buy beans there, they won't grind them for you, which is an industry first for me. Some quick fixes could make this a gem in the area. Until then, I'll hit up the other local spots.

Owner confidently incorrect--

I was in downtown Richland today and stumbled across Peacock Roasting so I was very excited to see what they had to offer. The storefront is well appointed and seems cozy inside. The hired staff was friendly. After purchasing a bag of their Guatemalan light roast I asked if they had a recommended ratio for espresso and a man at a table who I assumed to be the owner, proceeded to "educate" me on espresso. He was rather condescending and seemed annoyed as he told me that the Guatemalan was a "coffee" bean, not an "espresso" bean therefore I would not be able to actually make espresso. I told him that I have been using light roast coffee for espresso for quite some time and I just need to adjust a few parameters to pull a decent shot. He went on and on about how you need a dark roast coffee for espresso and that I was incapable of making espresso with the beans I had just purchased. After I arrived home, I confirmed the man at the table was the owner.

After pulling a few shots to dial it in my grind settings, I found a sweet spot of 27 seconds @ just over 38g yield. The shot itself was pretty good with fruit notes forward, a mild toffee/chocolate flavor that slowly creeps in a few seconds later, all with mild acidity. After tasting the shot, I decided to add hot water to make it an Americano so I could enjoy it a little longer.

Even after enjoying the Guatemalan from Peacock Roasting, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth from the owner and will not be back. It's too bad honestly as I am always looking forward to having more local options to choose from, but I will stick to my normal roasters.

From Wikipedia:

"Espresso (/ɛˈsprɛsoʊ/ (listen), Italian: [eˈsprɛsso]) is a coffee-brewing method of Italian origin,[1] in which a small amount of nearly boiling water (about 90 °C or 190 °F) is forced under 9–10 bars (900–1,000 kPa; 130–150 psi) of pressure through finely-ground coffee beans. Espresso coffee can be made with a wide variety of coffee beans and roast degrees. Espresso is the most common way of making coffee in southern Europe, especially in Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. It is also popular in Switzerland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Greece, and in Australia."

"Espresso is both a coffee beverage and a brewing method. It is not a specific bean, bean blend, or roast level. Any bean or roasting level can be used to produce authentic espresso. For example, in southern Italy, a darker roast is generally preferred. Farther north, the trend moves toward slightly lighter roasts, while outside Italy a wide range is popular.[16]"

Came here on Sunday the 5th of February and I will explain why I mention the date after I write my review. I found this place on Google because I wanted to try a new place near my hometown and found Peacock after a lengthy search. Had never heard of this place so that was a good thing.

I walked in and was impressed at how quiet this place was. I really like quiet ambiences at coffee shops! I also admired the glowing sign at the barista station, it is so unique! Thomas greeted me and I asked him if I could try a shot of his espresso. He proceeded to explain that it is a single-origin bean from Brazil. He gave me a shot and the crema was the first thing I noticed. Very smooth crema. I loved the taste! Very bold yet had the chocolate notes along with caramel. Single-origins are far more bold and I can appreciate that. It tends to hold itself with milk than a blend. I only had it straight for the taste test but will be trying with milk at home.

Now, the date I mentioned is important because the beans were roasted on the 4th of February. Thomas explained to me that I have to wait 5-10 days for the beans to gas out, balancing the C02 levels. I learned something new today! I'm pretty new to espresso knowledge so this was a good detail. I have to wait until Valentine's Day to drink this single-origin, and I bet it will be worth the wait! I will come back and update my review after tasting it out of my Delonghi Magnifica Evo.

Thank you Thomas for the complimentary espresso shot and for your wonderful service! I know you have a passion for what you do and for your customers! I will be back again soon!

Such an inviting coffee shop! Owner is friendly and goes out of his way to make the customers happy. I was walking by one night as they were closing and he invited me in to take a look and gave me a sample of his nitro coffee. I came back to the next day to work for a few hours & while working he brought me out homemade gelato and a real cocoa salted caramel chocolate to try! Amazing service, beautifully decorated, and great coffee. If you are in the area you need to try this place out! 10/10 recommend.

Ethically sourced beans, a unique ambiance, and of course, brilliant espresso! Tom has mastered the art of coffee! Consistency is hard to attain, but when you have such a passion for coffee it's second nature. Pour overs, lattes, or americanos, Peacock is the perfect place to get your daily dose. 🦚

Peacock Coffee Co. is a great new coffee shop that sells great coffee and fresh beans. Friendly and knowledgeable, highly-recommended.

We got a tiramisu latte and an americano. Both were phenomenal; the tiramisu latte was sweet, fragrant, but not intense, and an americano without cream or sugar speaks highly of the roast quality.

They also roast onsite, and sell a good variety of beans from all over the world, listing the batch's roast date, country of origin, farm, roast level, and flavor notes. The bags look great and have one-way valves to keep the beans fresh.

(Edit: first at-home brew: the beans sing. Unbelievable clarity. Blows the other roasters out of the water).

Overall, the place has lots of little details that I appreciate, and it'll be my coffee shop of choice for the foreseeable future.

Excellent cup of coffee with an impressively knowledgeable staff. The place is always clean and inviting. I’ve been here 10+ times and am looking forward to my next 10 times in.. :)

I think this is probably the best coffee in the Tri-cities. Plenty of seating inside to sit in comfy chairs and chat with friends, or sit at a table and work on your laptop. The staff and owner are very friendly but I come here for the amazing coffee honestly. It may be a tiny bit pricier than some other coffee shops around, but the quality is well worth it.
My only wish is that they had some more options for baked goods & pastries:)
