Probably the best dang breakfast bagel sandwich I've ever had! On top of that the coffee was great, there was a wide selection of kolaches, alternating varieties of delicious biscuits, and the guys that work there were really friendly too. Overall it was a great experience. This place is a must try if you're in the area looking for a nice coffee shop!

We first visited Surrounding Counties on Thursday and came back again today. Tasty breakfast bowls, amazing and creative kolaches, sublime baked goods, delicious coffee and the best people-watching west of Glenside. Now that we’ve found it we’ll be regular visitors from Northside.

One of my favorite local treats, love the personal service, and vegan options. The owner goes out of his way to make sure everyone who comes here has a genuine experience. The staff has always been friendly and conscientious about their craftsmanship on your food. So glad to have them as neighbors.

This place is so good. Coffee is on point, food is fantastic, and the service is great. This has become my go to coffee shop in RVA.

I’ve gone to surrounding counties several times. I must admit I was very disappointed this morning. I ordered coffee and the ffee tasted like it didn’t have enough grouns. It was more like flavored water. When I mentioned it and tried the other brew, it was more of the same. On my prior trip, the same thing happened but one brew tasted better than the other. I had honestly this morning, I was handed the kolache this morning without a bag, and without the customary mint that’s usually in the bag. When I got to work, the oil had leaked through the bag. This would’ve been on my leather seats or on my suit. I also purchased a brownie. It had a very light plastic wrap on it and air had gotten to it. It’s hard, very hard. Now, the kolache was as amazing as always. I had the hatch Chile. Unfortunately, I won’t get my coffee there anymore but I will go for kolache’s.

I was craving breakfast during my visit and love supporting the locals, and Surrounding Counties didn’t disappoint. They had so many offerings and I’d definitely come back anytime I’m on this side of town. We got the homemade cheese danish, a savory egg and cheese kolache, and an order of grits. It was hot, fresh, and delicious, which totally hit the spot. Do yourself a favor and check them out y’all!

Awesome little coffee place! I came here to get a coffee and sit and work for a minute and Zack and Stan were great hosts.

The coffee (I’m a purist- no cream or sugar for me) was fresh, smooth and rich. I enjoyed a bagel and lox on really good bread. Again, the guys put up with my chatting and were very easy to talk with. It’s obvious they love what they do. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will return!

Was visiting Richmond area and discovered this amazing coffee shop. Great vibe from the LPS playing, the cool pottery ware, the art to the super friendly owner. The coffee was great and the food even better. Wish I had a coffee shop like this in my hometown. Definately will be back next time in town.
