Ironclad Coffee Roasters & Baking Co., West End

Coffee tasted nice and I love how the coffee bags show when the beans were roasted.
I got a sausage, egg, and pepper jack biscuit. The sandwich tasted pretty bland/no flavor and the biscuit had the doughy flavor and lacked the butteriness a biscuit should have.
I also got the cinnamon roll and the swedish cardamom buns, but both did not taste fresh. Both baked goods tasted like it was a day or two old. They were very dry, lacked sweetness and flavor, tasted very doughy (the weird flour flavor when you don’t add enough sugar or salt to the dough.) Not even the icing on top was sweet at all. (This is coming from a person who prefers things to be less sweet but these were really really not sweet.)
For the price I paid for these and the high expectations I had from the rave reviews, I was very disappointed.
All in all, the coffee is a yes. (The only thing I’d wish for is for the coffee bags not to be put at direct sunlight outside. It’ll ruin the taste of the coffee.) The baked goods… there needs to be improvements. I’ll be only ordering the coffee when I stop by here for a drink.

The gluten free biscuits were really good and they stopped making them, blaming the customers for not buying them (which isn’t even true, many people I know bought them and they were very often sold out). Super disappointing considering the coffee isn’t even that good and it’s way overpriced. I will never come back here again.

This might be a case of having expectations that were too high based on the reviews but I wasn't that impressed. Everyone was super friendly and kind but the dirty Chai latte I had was about the strangest version I think I've ever come across. It didn't seem like it was a latte, and almost had a licorice flavor to it instead of chai, which wasn't necessarily unpleasant, but just not what you want from a dirty Chai latte. It just seemed more like they took a standard cup of coffee, poured in some unfoamed milk and added a pump of chai syrup or powder or something. I'll definitely try again if I'm ever in the area because I'd imagine it could have just been a one-off issue.

got a 16 oz iced cookie crumble coffee for more than $9, and it tasted not like $9. pretty disappointed considering the transaction was pleasant. but $9 for a coffee drink that tasted like any regular coffee and a cookie “garnish”? my friend and i were both disappointed

I visited the new Ironclad on their first day open and it was so good! I will definitely be back for more coffee and a cinnamon roll next time! So excited to finally have some good coffee in the West End, so much better than Dunkin and Starbucks😉

I absolutely love the Hot Lavender Vanilla Latte! The staff has always been respectful, kind and dedicated to providing the customer with quality service. PS The ginormous cinnamon buns are amazing!

The best coffee in Richmond now in a drive-thru on West end? YES!! The pastries were delicious, the drinks as excellent as I ever had at the Grace St location, and the service was friendly and fast. I'll be back frequently. 😁

Great latte and almond danish! Staff was friendly and very nice. I’m from out of town but if I pass through Short Pump again I’ll definitely stop by Ironclad again!

I've come at least once weekly since opening. The flavor of simple decaf Americano is so good, which is hard to find. Got a slice of the chocolate cake and it was delicious. I live in the neighborhood and will be a regular. I'm retired so don't usually splurge, but well worth it.

I am so thrilled to have such a great local coffee shop (with a drive-thru!!) in the west end!! The coffee and pastries are delicious, and the staff is always friendly and kind. I will be here often!
