Stopped in while on a road trip. It was nice to see an option other than Starbucks. Ironclad is an interesting place. There is no inside ordering out eating/drinking. You walk up to the building and order at a window. I had a honey latte which was very good. I also had a giant gingerbread cookie which was delicious. If we lived in the area I would frequent this place.

Their coffee is good.. but what I loved the most is the ambiance in their downtown branch.. that’s missing here.. they only have outdoor seating and ordering queue is also outside.. I hope they include some indoor seating and ordering..
to me the breakfast sandwich ratio of egg/ sausage to biscuits is off.. so didn’t enjoy much.. scones was good..
Try them if u crave for a good coffee..
Update -
I love iron clad just not for coffee but for the overall experience I get when I visit them.. I used to drive more than 10 miles to downtown to get a coffee and enjoy it in their cafe.. I was very happy to see them closer to home.. when u open a shop with a brand name it’s not a crime to expect the same experience in the new place as well.. so I was not comparing orange to apple..
May be I’ll drive that 10 mile to have a good experience going forward .. thanks for ur response..

I tried one of their signature coffee - brown butter choco chip milk lattes oat milk and requested them to make less sweet and little ice and it turned out great.. We also tried their yama drip cold brew and it's strong. Overall nice little coffee shop.

First time here. Ordered an Iced Mocha, Blueberry muffin, and Sauage, egg and Pepper Jack Biscuit. All of it was delicious! The young woman who rang me up was pleasant and patient as she answered my questions.

This beautiful, mildly isolated coffee shop reminds me of my time on the islands. Chill vibes, friendly service, great pastries, clean, quiet surroundings. This is a great place to start your morning! Magnum Approved.

Ironclad has its main historic location in downtown Richmond but for those of us that live outside the city this “west end” location is perfect. This location offers all the same services you know and love. I got the lavender latte and an egg and cheese biscuit and both were amazing!! Bring an friend and share a good time. All the food is baked and prepared that day so nothing is stale or old. Also this location has a drive through for you busy commuters. I absolutely will be returning and thank you Ironclad for being awesome!

I have been coming about once a month since they opened. The very first time I ordered a bag of espresso to go. The quality of the beans are excellent. I keep coming by trying out the different pastries they have. I use to love coming when they had the cinnamon coffee cake. I don't understand why they stopped selling them, they always sold out. I once asked if they were just not doing them anymore and she said the bakers just bake whatever they feel like baking that day. I have tried the pop tart and did not like. The cinnamon roll.......sorry to say other places have much better tasting cinnamon rolls. Very dry and tastes more like bread. Once in a while I crave their breakfast sandwiches. Today I got one and the cheese was hard almost like plastic instead of gooey and the biscuit tasted stale as if they were a day old? I hope that is not the case. Anyways, each and every time I have came, the customer service is always great except for today. I am not sure if I just got them on a bad day or what. I went by today for a coffee and a sand which. Ordered at the walkup window. The young man kind seemed more like I was bothering him and because I took a couple minutes to order, seemed annoyed. After I got my items, I was paying with my card. I was waiting for the tip option but as soon as I pulled my card away the guy says have a great day and slams the window shut. OK, forget the tip then.... I understand it is cold but at least wait for me to turn around and walk away before slamming the window shut. I love that they are so close to my house and I keep on coming in hopes of finding a really good pastry besides the coffee cake they use to have.

Nothing special. Staff was friendly. Coffee was not warm nor was my hot chocolate.. always saddening to me to order a hot chocolate that is not hot. Bagels are overpriced and you a pay a dollar extra for a little plastic jelly container that you would get for free at any restaurant, super weird. They also didn’t prepare the bagel. For the extra dollar for jelly your would think that may include assembly. Banana bread was good, no complaints there except that Starbucks would at least warm it up for me. 🙃 Overall, overpriced, and I dislike going to coffee places that don’t make coffee at least hot. I saw other people talking about cinnamon rolls before I left this review but there were none there, maybe would have got 4 stars for a cinnamon roll. 🥲
Update to owner: This platform is for consumers to express themselves so that we may better educate ourselves on what we are going to spend our money towards. Perhaps consumers want to know they will have to ask you for multiple drinks before they can get something desirable. Maybe you should just humbly except the feedback and learn from it. Also, you should not assume I did not ask for another drink. I personally hope your business does well and you are successful but this space is for us to express our experiences freely. All the best.

Decided to try this place one morning as was pleasantly surprised by the customer service and kindness of the barista in the window. Their espresso drinks are awesome (mocha pictured) and their pastries (raspberry cream cheese puff pastry) is awesome. Definitely worth stopping by, support local coffee shops!

Iron Clad is a stand-alone coffee shop in a Publix shopping center, though more difficult to get to than any other store. The location does not allow customers inside the store, the prices are twice what the drinks are worth, and the only options for milk are whole, oat, or macadamia nut. Overall the staff were friendly, but it did not redeem the experience this location has to offer.
