Very quaint Cafe. Reminds me of a Paris Vibe but with local aspirations. Nicely placed in Church Hill , East End of Richmond. On Nine Mile Road next to Richmond Community Center. it's like a hidden Oasis for the morning!!! The Latte and espressos are wonderfully made better than Starbucks!!! Definitely going to be my number one morning spot!!!

Great space with plenty of drink, food, and seating options! Not only does this cafe feel comfortable for all kinds of people, it’s clearly plugged into the community and promotes it as well. The space is very clean and has plenty of accessible outlets; very important for those spending hours here. It also has a lovely outdoor space with wide tables for larger groups or those seeking fresh air; though outdoor seating is a few more steps from the actual front door. The drinks were a bit watery, but the food (I ordered the grits!) was very delicious and fresh. I would love to return again and try more.

Very cute cafe with spacious seating. Food and drinks are on par. A great place to chill in for a few hours. Portion is a tiny bit small but otherwise great!

My latte was SOOO good. Very creamy and not bitter like so many other beans. The vibe was cool, loved the architecture.

The menu says they do a pour over, but they no longer offer that option, which was one of the reasons we came in the first place. So that was a bummer! Went with a drip instead, but wasn’t impressed when they emptied one carafe and then topped it off with some fresh.

We might have caught the employees on an off day… would definitely go back for the latte!!

It’s a quaint, quiet, and relaxed environment. Perfect to work in - they are understaffed but be kind regardless. It’s important to know their mission to give back to the community.

Always happy to support local but even more special when it’s for the greater community

There’s a surprisingly large number of folk…experiencing success across many walks of life while running the neutral halls of some fortune 5 companies and settling into their corner office…. allthewhile contemplating giving it all up. Why? To chase a dream….a dream that doesn’t make sense like the most exciting of love affairs…a dream not nearly as deep as MLK orated but with a similar level of passion…a dream of owning a CAFE! To me…The Front Porch Cafe is the architectural and aesthetic portrayal of what most peoples “dream cafe” would look like.

High industrial looking ceilings. Exposed Brick. Subtly spinning ceiling fans moving the arabica aromatic air just enough. Homely furniture. Culture. History. Triumph. Branded Merchandise. Wonderful walls graced by provocative art and beautiful faces. This was it.

I walked in and approached the counter. Took a bit to get greeted but the perfectly mounted menu and enticing offerings stole my focus. I hate being disappointed when something sounds good and doesn’t deliver so I always like to start simple and let that speak to me before diving into the deeper dishes.. I ordered the Egg & Cheese English Muffin and a Cup of that Drip Drip. The Coffee was mild/smooth and had a very unique flavor not to be confused with any of the subpar large coffee chains. It was its own thang and that’s a good thang. Delicious sounding teas were offered as well.

I was never asked if I was dining in or taking out but I sat and sipped my Joe while absorbing the ambiance. Approx 420 seconds later the food arrived to my table in a take out container and plastic bag. Ehhh…wrong assumption but I quickly undressed the grub and was pleased to see that potatoes were part of the package. Overall, the fare was fair. The eggs, the unmelted slice of cheddar and the potatoes were all not very hot and not overly flavorful but I was hungry and just shoved it in my face. I wanted more….

Not more food….not even more coffee at the moment. Just more from this experience. The place was marvelous and deserves someone almost like a “tour guide” behind the counter to passionately share with you the culinary highlights, rich history and cultural culminations of that define the Front Porch Cafe. I feel there was a story that went untold…

I hope to revisit for a more in depth and conclusive experience. Thanks for reading and I hope this helps someone find this unique cafe with very nice clean bathrooms btw. Follow along on my journey across everywhere as I review damn near everything.

My husband and I ordered from Front Porch on a Saturday afternoon. Important to note we are new parents, so we are home bound and reliant on delivery for the moment. Front Porch lists GrubHub and DoorDash for delivery options - normally I don't like to patronize 3rd party services but the photos of food looked amazing and I desperately needed coffee.

Food arrived in a timely manner via GrubHub. He ordered the Short Rib Hash and I had the Churchill Breakfast with vegan sausage. Both of our roasted breakfast potatoes had zero seasoning, as did our eggs. I ordered over easy and I think I only got one egg (hard to tell because it was just tossed into the to-go container). Both our english muffins were barely toasted and had no butter (nor was any provided). His serving of short rib seemed small and he said it was under seasoned as well. I was concerned about my vegan sausage - I am not sure if this was actually vegan. The texture seemed off and it was too spicy for any vegan sausage I had ever had, and I've been a vegetarian for 20 years. I did enjoy my collard greens, but I can't see that as redeeming for our meal overall.

Lastly, our 16oz coffees were spilled EVERYWHERE on our order. This very well could have been from the GrubHub driver.

The photos and reviews on Google make this place look extremely appetizing, but I wonder if online order/third party orders recieve the same care and service as in-person orders. I'd give them another try, but only if we were there in person and I would definitely mention this experience as being pretty lackluster.

This cafe is a gem in Richmond! My very first visit I recognized how closely they work with the community. The service is always excellent and the cafe itself is spacious, open air, comfortable and cozy. They have a lovely patio out front in the sunshine with tables and it’s partially covered if you’d prefer the shade.

Sonder Event Co. recently booked Front Porch Cafe for CoFlow's open house. We were impressed by the incredible customer service, and of course the food and coffee was delicious!

The Front Porch Cafe is outstanding, the food is delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful in recommendations. I would likely not have tried the coconut lentil soup if not for the suggestion from staff ( I believe it was Andre). This cafe is the best part of our office relocating directly across the street. I do not drink lattes but the person I was with got one and told the barista that it was the best one she has ever had with delicious froth.
