The decked out German Shephard sculpture is super cute adorned with different outfits. He was rockin' St. Paddy's!
My hubby loved the ham, egg, and cheese croissant! I wasn't a big fan of the housemade No Bull Veggie burger, the lentil patty was super bland. While it was healthy, the sandwich was a bit flat. Glad I swapped out the brioche bun for the flavorful herbed focaccia. I devoured the wide flat crispy fries and hands-down the best part of the sandwich! Definitely go with the fries! I prefer the panini sandwiches at West Main Market up the road, the mushroom and caramelized onion sandwich is divine!
Gathering Grounds is more like a casual cafe than a patisserie as they are only a few types of pies and a small assortment of pastries. You won't find exquisite French pastries here. While the gigantic chocolate chip cookie looked scrumptious, it was really doughy and under-baked. The salt helped to balance out the sweetness. I threw in the towel 1/2 way through. I noticed there were a batch of cookies that looked stale (I received one) tucked behind fresh cookies facing the display case.
The cafe is super packed for brunch over the weekend, so be prepared to wait. Our carry-out order of ham, egg, and cheese croissant and No Bull burger took 1/2 hour.
While the food was fun to try, it wasn't particularly memorable and run of the mill. As Luray doesn't have many options, GG is a good crowd-pleaser option.

Overall: Great option for a casual sit-down or takeout breakfast.
The good: Came here for breakfast and the breakfast sandwich was amazing - flaky crossiant, fluffy eggs, gooey cheese, and a decent amount of bacon. Luckily my wife couldn't finish hers (they are sized well), so I got to have a little extra. The menu is a good size and the atmosphere is warm and inviting, with lots of various decorations scattered throughout.
The not-so-good: Service wasn't as attentive as we would've liked, as we sat there for a good 5-10 minutes before being helped.

Quaint little small town café.
Grabbed a coffee and a breakfast burrito a few days back and everything was great! 😁

Amazing restaurant!! We were visiting out of town to go see the Caverns. We decided to take main street to see if there was any good places. Based on the reviews we decided to stop in. Boy am I glad we did. Our waitress was phenomenal Very quick service. The chicken salad is out of this world!!! We also got coffee and bakery goods to go. Whether your local or just visiting this is a must if you are looking for a good place to eat with a great service and ambience. If I could give 10 stars I would.

A nice local restaurant in Luray, VA. We stopped here for lunch during a Saturday afternoon drive to see the Fall foliage. The server was polite and friendly and the food was excellent. They were very busy and seating was limited. Overall a very nice place.

Wonderful staff, great food, exceptional coffee, 10/10 menu reccomendations, stellar wifi if needed, etc etc...
Wish I was from the area so I could come more often!
Spent several hours there.
Hope they keep it up :)

During this foggy, raining day this is quite the place to stop. With friendly hostess and a nice selection of coffee and food. Best fried pickles I've ever had. You may have a little bit of a wait depending on the staff.

Excellent food and service! Everything fresh and flavorful! Mediterranean wrap juicy and well seasoned. Great tomato soup! The BEST key lime cheesecake! Sooo creamy and delicious! Everything made inhouse. Definitely will go back there when visiting Luray!

Visiting from out of town. This was a nice little cafe to visit. They have homemade pies and other desserts you can order, but I was too full to do so. I had the Mediterranean wrap and it was good. I also had a regular cup of coffee that was good. The prices are reasonable and my waitress was wonderful. I wish I remembered her name because she was extremely friendly.
