Heritage Bakery & Café

Absolutely elegant and carries the sweet charm only a small business can have. On this early morning, I was craving a fresh breakfast that I normally would make in my own kitchen, but since I am visiting my sister, it’s not as accessible...or so I thought. I ordered a salmon bagel and avocado toast that hit the spot perfectly. The staff is sweet and attentive, all covid guidelines are followed and the bake box was full of goodies.
I found this bakery on google and was instantly in awe of their cakes. I don’t even like cake! But they’re stunning. I don’t even like macaroons! But I ordered two!
Just come you won’t regret it!

My husband and I stopped here twice while we were staying in Harrisburg recently. Can’t say enough good things about it. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming— something that is difficult to accomplish during a pandemic. I had the GF waffle and muffin— which were so good I couldn’t believe they were GF! And my husband (who doesn’t have to avoid gluten) ordered the GF waffle on our second visit after tasting mine the first time. Not only is the waffle good, they serve it with real maple syrup (not artificial pancake syrup) and about a pint of fresh fruit and berries! The coffee was also delicious.

Seating is limited and the couple that came in after us ended up leaving because there were no seats available. So be prepared to do takeout as a plan B if there isn’t any seating available. But don’t leave without ordering something! It’s too good to miss.

Friendly service, excellent coffee and food. Clearly a place locals eat and enjoy.

Their croissant breakfast sandwich is fantastic! And of course all their other food tasted amazing and homemade like! Wish there was more table seating space in the winter time.

Heritage is a wonderful place! Their food is amazing and so is their freshly squeezed orange juice! The staff is so inviting and helpful; I’m glad I could try them out for the first time today. I will definitely be going back there frequently :)

Thank you guys for all you do! I have never ever had a bad experience at Heritage and I always look forward to being in the ‘Burg to stop by for some delicious yummies! Best birthday cakes and macaron selection, and food allergy friendly, so everyone feels included! SPECTACULAR customer service! It shows that your bakery fairies want to make each customer feel special and welcomed while taking their orders. Keep being amazing, and doing your thing! Please know that you guys are truly appreciated:)

I am in love with this little bakery. They put everything they can into their business, customers, and community; they truly give back and support every chance they get. I’m so happy to see that they sell out some mornings even though I selfishly would buy the whole bakery case if I could! Plus they post what’s available on their Instagram daily so I always know my options beforehand. Everything is so fresh and absolutely delicious from their lunch to bakery to coffee. I cannot express how much love I have for this place and how sweet the owners/employees always are. They make me miss living in Harrisonburg but I always make sure to pop in whenever I visit, they deserve every single star and more!!

What a special gem this bakery is! Their sweet treats are always delicious, and they change it up every day! You can even check their instagram and Facebook each morning to see what they're offering that day. I especially enjoy their avocado toast and hot basil pesto mozzarella sandwich if you're in the mood for something savory. Everyone is always so friendly when you come in, too. This will be a place I miss often after moving to Richmond, but I'll be back in any time I'm in town! Excited for my next Heritage Baker trip!

One of my favorite lunch stops in downtown Harrisonburg. They have the best shaded, pet friendly, beautiful patio to enjoy with your food and people watch street downtown. The staff is super nice and even got my dog some water and brought food out. The price is super affordable for the amenities you get. For roughly ten bucks, I got a delicious sandwich, local green salad and a hunk of fruit for roughly 10 bucks. 10/10

I love this bakery. Not only are the sandwiches and salads delicious, but the baked goods are wonderful and different every day. I love treating myself to lunch here! Also, I recently ordered a special order 9” cake to celebrate an award that my workplace won, and the cake was the best on I have ever eaten. The cake was moist, the frosting not too sweet and it was beautiful decorated with flowers and a macaron. They communicated well with me about the order and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Highly recommend!
