Very good food. You can get a drink at the bar and watch the dishes being prepared. Sangria was very tasty and not too sweet. Bacon-wrapped dates were delicious.

We frequent Mas on many occasions and always enjoy the food , but almost every time leave feeling like why did we visit there again. The wait staff is by far the rudest and most entitled we have ever encountered. Never again!!! The options for great food and GREAT SERVICE are far to many in Charlottesville including right down the street at Tavola to ever spend your hard earned money at this place. The wait staff should realize they are in the people business and the owner would be wise to get this fixed because the floodgates of people will not put up with this type of service long before the word on the street gives you plenty of time to ponder where did they all go!

Best tapas in Charlottesville. They also have the best cocktails. Kind of expensive, but worth it. I find the best experience is in a group of 4 or more, which allows you to try more different kinds of dishes. Be prepared to wait though, they are very popular.

As many others have said, the food is -good depending upon what you get, however the service is AWFUL. You literally feel like you are a burden from the moment you sit down. Our waitress was blatantly rude to us and made it very clear that we needed to hurry up because it was a Friday night. When we asked for the check so we could leave it took almost 20 minutes. A hundred dollars to get treated like garbage isn’t my idea of a fun night. There are NUMEROUS amazing options in Cville so unless you have some masochistic tendencies, avoid this one like the plague.

Great atmosphere. My favorite dishes are the dates wrapped in bacon, the artichokes, and the carne asada (stake), which is delicious.
However, it is too expensive for the quality provided. I also had two instances in which the staff was rude to us.

One of our favorite places on the earth! Excellent food, sexy date night ambience, and the drinks are fab: sangria, stellar wine list, on point beer selection, and OMG the fresh cocktails! Most of all, the staff is smart and savvy. Indoor and outdoor dining are available, plan to wait if you arrive at prime dinner time on a Fri/Sat. We love to go on a weeknight at 6pm to get a seat at the bar near the chefs to watch the show. MAS has been a key ingredient to the Cville dining scene for 14 years .... there is a reason. Find a parking place in the neighborhood and enjoy! (Bacon wrapped dates? Yes! Vegan options? Yes!)

Absolutely amazing food and a great place to unwind with friends during a busy work week, I would definitely recommend you try this place out!

Mas tapas is great. The food is fantastic and the menu is always changing. Thankfully, they always have the papas bravas on the menu - I think these are our favorites. They also have a drink menu with lots of choices. Their gin and tonics are tasty (and also huge). Tapas are grouped based on price and range from $8-15 per plate. If you come here on an empty stomach (which I don't recommend and isn't the point of tapas), expect to cough up some dough.
