This place is a unique gem. The food is very wholesome and they have gf options. Lots of fresh baked goods and coffee options too. The decor is nothing short of charming. I'd highly recommend!

My wife and I were visiting friends in rural Vermont, went for a day out touring and discovered this awesome little café for lunch. Very homey, friendly, quaint. My Tuna Melt with Vermont Cheddar was AMAZING! My wife LOVED the homemade Tomato Soup with Toast. So thick, hearty, seasoned up. Hot coffee and hot tea were spot on too. Great little place, nice people. Thank You Moon Dog!!

I was in the area of Westminster and wanted to find a dining establishment. My Google search showed Moon Dog Cafe. I gave them a call and yes, they were open on New Year's Day in Bellows Falls, VT. Their menu is quite inviting, the special was delicious! Huge amount of food and decent price. Atmosphere and employees are very inviting and energetic. We are definitely going back to try the regular menu. Did I mention the fresh bakery they have too?!? Definitely a return trip or two, or many down the road! Thank you, Moon Dog Cafe!!!

I love Moondog cafe!! The shop itself is very cute with plants and lots of space, and the food is delicious. Their soups are always yummy and diverse, and they are generous with their portions! The breakfast bomb sandwich is LOADED with deliciously seasoned potatoes and cheese, I recommend it with hot sauce. They have lots of vegetarian options so it’s super easy to find something (I am a vegetarian) for anyone. Their bagels are good, and the quality of the veggies they have is noticeably better than any cafe I have been to. Especially the tomatoes. The baked goods are INSANE, I always get croissants at cafes and they have the best ones I’ve ever had! Long story short, I highly recommend it! Delicious!!

We came up to VT for the overland races from almost 7hrs away. This was our happiest find, the coffee shop is beautiful the environment was inviting. Unfortunately that was the end of the hospitality, cashier seemed to be rather annoyed from the get go. Thought she was having a bad day, until I overheard a pleasant interaction with the couple that followed us in. My kids were with us and we ordered drinks, and sat down with the menu, the service was enough to deter us from ordering and instead drove 40 minutes.
This was the first place in bellows falls that I was super excited to visit and unfortunately it missed the mark for me.

Warm and friendly service, wonderful food. Salads are gorgeously prepared, generously sized as are the sandwiches, soups are great. French toast is decadent and out of this world. It's hard to say what I like best, but I can say I've never been disappointed. I've never had room for dessert, but they look beautiful, and word is, they're perfection.

We stopped here for lunch before strolling down the shops of Bellows Falls. This was a hard one to rate. When we walked in, we immediately went up to the front register to order lunch food after looking at the lunch menu. Apparently this was the wrong thing to do, as informed by the rather grumpy cashier. Somehow, without guidance, we were supposed to have known to just sit down and wait for a waiter, while others were in line at the counter. The cashier took our order. So that was our introduction to this cafe.
Second, after rather sheepishly sitting down, we noticed a random kitty strolling about and begging to be let out. I love cats, but I'm not sure if a cat really belongs in a food establishment especially since said kitty can come in and out from the outside freely.
Third, the food we ordered was also a mixed bag. The sandwich was delicious, and this is not an exaggeration. The coleslaw side, however, was a let down compared to the sandwich. The coffee was also good and potent.
It really is a shame, as I don't like to leave critical reviews. But I also like to provide critical feedback so that places can improve.
(1) If you don't have a sign, a guide, or a greeter to explain to newcomers how things are supposed to run, do not get upset and snippy at the customer who is paying your bills.
(2) The atmosphere and entire setting of the cafe is dated. It wants to be a cozy place, it really does, but with old paint, dirty outlets and trim, and random kitty cats strolling about, it's a hard sell.
(3) The payment system is entirely based on the honor system. You order your food, then you get your drinks and desserts on your own. Then it's your job to tell the cashier what you ended up getting. If you were in a big city, you'd have hemorrhaged money by now.
Management and the service needs help as even with the most delicious food, it can't overcome these negative aspects.

Stumbled upon Moon Dog Cafe on our trip to Vermont and I’m so happy we did! An adorable cafe with amazing food. We had the lunch special, Thai noodles and chicken so so yummy. Service was great as well. If you are in Bellow Falls make sure to eat here, you’ll love it!
