The atmosphere is great, they do have access to WiFi for customers and it’s a convenient location being right off campus, but it’s definitely over priced for mediocre coffee and mediocre and inconsistent food. First time I ordered the big salad it was fantastic; lots of toppings, good amount of greens and had half of a large avocado on it and that day I felt I’d just about gotten my money’s worth for an $8 (maybe more, but definitely not less) price. Came back the following week and ordered the same thing, but this time did not get half my money’s worth... I received much less of everything and not one single slice of avocado and I know they weren’t out because someone who came in after I was served ordered the avocado toast. Was very disappointed that day. They’re also open until 8, but I’ve never seen a selection of baked goods in the afternoon with the exception of sometimes there being one scone left. This is a pro and a con since we know the baked goods are fresh daily, but really wish they made enough to last through for their afternoon customers.
Pretty good food. REALLY expensive prices. A beer, small bit of tots and basic burger cost Over $17. Good campus option but it won’t last with those crazy prices. The best part was the great local beers. Especially RoHa.
Publik did a great job of re-vamping the old Big Ed's site while keeping part of the old vibe alive. I used to frequent Ed's about once every 2 weeks or so for lunch or breakfast. It was great to have a place right off campus to talk with colleagues after or before work. The new food and coffee are great, but it's now too pricey to visit more than once or twice a semester. A couple nods by the new restaurant to the campus hangout culture, such as free wifi, refills on drip coffee, and tater tots being included in the base burger price would help make this place a lot more appreciated by the campus crowd.
Pretty good burgers here although I did send one back for being raw and under cooked. They were happy to fire a new one though. Selection of drinks outside of coffee (dont drink it) and beer (dont drink it while needing to work still) is pretty limited. Didn't like the limeonade at all. Tasted like it was fake lime extract instead of real lime juice.
If you like the selection of drinks and if my burger was a fluke, then this is your place to go.
Really pricey for the price and taste. The burger is admittedly crispy and juicy and good, but 8.5 for just a burger is really bad value, especially in an area mainly consisting of college students. You're not going to stay afloat with these prices.
Great spot for a quick bite. I love the decor, a great update that still pays tribute to the legacy of Big Ed's. The gawdawful is just as good, if not better than before. I didn't get to try any of the beverages, but I will next time and update accordingly.
Food was great, good beer without being expensive. I ordered Ed's Breakfast with sausage, but with no egg, avocado instead. A star knocked off for lack of thermoregulation. It was roasting when I came in, and freezing when I left.
I got the "gawdahful" (spelling) and it was so so good. You get tater tots, covered in chili, covered in an egg done however you want; all for around 8 dollars. Chill university atmosphere; will be visiting for lunch again soon
This location doesn’t have the burger anymore which is unfortunate BUT it is at the 9th and 9th location so for anyone who was as sad as I was, move on over to Publik kitchen.
Can't tell you how great their burgers are! They're the reason I go. While the portions are just a tad small (they're still not bad) the place is quaint and staff is very polite and attendant
