Typical downtown diner in an aging building. Prices were good. There was only one waitress on our visit, she was friendly but overworked.
Someone in our party had a patty melt, it was average. Someone else had a BLT, it was average. Another had a club sandwich. It was huge and delicious, we all wished we had ordered one. The fries were okay but slightly undercooked.
Scoring breakdown: Club Sandwich 5 stars, the rest of the food was a 3. Closer to 3.5 stars total, but I'm rounding down because of the building and lack of staff.

Great cafe. Food is hot and fresh. You won’t leave hungry. Not too expensive for a good meal. Great service as well!!
I’ll go back for sure;)

Small Towne cafe.
Was not crowded when we were there.
Fries are actually fresh cut potatoes.
San Francisco burger was good and the bread was lightly grilled. Just right.
Could have used a refill on my soda.
Server was good minus that point. Minus 10% tip for that. Note always keep their drink full....period.
2nd option of soup would be a good idea also.
Will return asit is my kind of place.

04/25/2023 Update:
I had a better experience today than the last time I was here. The food was much better. The only complaint I have is that their breakfast menu is too small. I'd like to see chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy on there as well. Other than that, I liked here today.

Not too great of an experience. The staff was friendly enough and the service was great. But the food wasn't the best. I ordered a sandwich where the bun was toasted and overly dry. It turned into a crunchy concoction that I did not care for. Plus, the fries were not the best either. Overall, not too pleased.

I am vegetarian, so I was a little nervous eating here because there is only the veggie burger, the grilled cheese, and the sides that are vegetarian. However, I was pleasantly surprised!
The veggie burger was very good, with lots of baked in veggies, and it was well seasoned. There was also a good amount of toppings: onion, lettuce, and pickles. The bun was great, too, nice and soft. The fries were piping hot with a perfect amount of salt.
I also got the dinner roll, which was huge! It was soft as a cloud and very delicious. Came with butter and a packet of honey butter.
The atmosphere was very cute. Old building apparently, but well kept. Some chairs are a bit worn, but most of it is very nice and clean and has been well maintained.
The woman who brought our food was very kind and helpful.
Would recommend!

Had an excellent taco salad. Very nicely seasoned and fresh. Got it to go and will do it again, but it would be even better dining in. Highly recommend Cowan's.

This is THE PLACE!!! When passing through or visiting Duchesne, this is where you want to eat. Good home cooked food, great service and a very good value. I had the lunch special (bleu cheese bacon burger, soup and a drink .... $10.73 - what a deal. Kiera was a very good server and burger was soooo good.

Has gone down in the last few years. Hope it was just a fluke few times of going. Don't order a steak rare. You will get it well done. And has browns are under cooked. Service was good.

Stopped here on a whim on my way to Dinosaur National Monument. The Mammoth Burger was exactly what I needed. This is real, down-home café-style food. Nothing fancy but well cooked and served with a smile. Highly rexommended.
Update: I confess; I wrote the review before I had tasted the fries. Doesnt change my rating a bit. In fact it supports it. These fries are amazing!
