Far Flung Outdoor Center

Highlight of the trip to Big Bend. The machines were in great shape and the trails were bumpy enough to be an adventure without veering into actually dangerous. Our guide, Terry, was fantastic. Highly recommend and would do again.

Worth every penny! The beauty and enjoyment of paddling between the great walls of Santa Elena Canyon is an experience not to pass up. Cody and Daniel were great tour guides!

Great location with excellent facilities. Facilities are great any time of the year; the entire staff is helpful, friendly and courteous. Rooms are more than good! and just right for this area and adventure (we stay nowhere else) and for all climates. Various excursions to Big Bend NP are well-crafted, and handled by experienced and competent guides (all tour types) with a lot of hidden skills and education. Spend a week here and enjoy the hidden jewels around BBNP. Finally, FFOC is great for families and extended families.

We got lucky and were able to get a quick kayak trip in on a weekend! Mike and Erin were awesome river guides with great information about the local area and river. Next year we are in for the 2 day float trip! Thank you Far Flung!

Half day river trip was good. The guides work hard and made the trip fun. Need to go back for a full day river trip.

Water levels didn't permit the Santa Elena full day float trip so we chose the full day Colorado Canyon float trip. On our trip were just my husband and I and our guide, Dan. It was a wonderful trip of peacefully floating down the river. Dan was a great guide who provided just the right amount of interpretation of what we were seeing and allowing for long moments of contemplation. Nothing dramatic happened, we didn't see any javalinas or other large wild life and it was still worth the price.
Lunch was a decent picnic of sandwiches and fruit and a delicious secret recipe salsa.
Everything was done efficiently and without rushing. Highly recommend!

These guys took care of my bachelor party. We did a two day river trip by canoe and also used the casitas pre trip.
Reid, Neil, and Jeremy were excellent guides. We were all well fed and taught the basics of canoeing. We also really enjoyed the day hikes and hearing about the history of the canyon.
Every one in my group has told me how great of a time it was.

Returning to Big Bend, we also returned to Far Flung. We have taken both River Road and Old Ore Road day long "Jeep" tour. They steer people towards shaded/climate controlled h2/h3 vehicles on these long runs spanning through the afternoon sun; suggest you make your preference known in advance if you really want the open top experience, though we were once offered our choice at the moment when things were relatively idle.

These tours have great access to the back country adventure that differentiates Big Bend from more busy, streamlined parks. If you need Far Flung's equipment and experience to do that, the guides do a great job of that and add the story and workings of this quietly grand desert.

We really wanted to do a half day trip of kayaking, the office staff was very helpful in providing us the available options. When we returned the next morning one of the more experienced guides, Austin, discussed the best way for us to enjoy the experience while also providing realistic expectations of what we were in for. We decided to do the inflatable duckys and it worked out perfect for us. He told us later that the water levels are typically more low in the first half of the year and if we returned between the July - August area that the water could be 20 feet higher. Kayaking through the canyon was amazing and any trip to Big Bend will include us stopping by Far Flung for more outdoor excursions.
