My wife and I decided on a raft outing instead of the normal Thanksgiving dinner this year and it will be our new annual tradition. Our guides Sammy and Jasmine were amazing! We also spent a couple of nights at the Far Flung casitas and can’t say enough about how nice everyone was and how clean the casita was. It takes an interesting mix of personality and skill to pull off a fun day on the River though and Sammy and Jasmine had both. Great adventure!

On my trip to Big Bend National Park, I wanted to stay in the gateway town of Terlingua as it’s easy access, has restaurants close by and is scenic. But the accommodations are sparse and some are sketchy. I was delighted to find Far Flung Outdoor center had charming casitas on property. These small individual cabins are large and are set up like a studio apartment. Plenty of room, kitchenette, modern bathroom and terrific amenities. We swam in the pool and sat on the rocking chairs on the porch at nite, looking at a million stars. They have made the surrounding grounds into an oasis with trees, flowers, well kept paths, ice maker, BBQ, and fire pits. We stayed three nights and it really felt like a special place that fit right in with the national park hiking experience. And it’s at the Far Flung Outdoor center that does the river trips, ATV and jeep tours plus it has a great coffee shop all right there. I would definitely stay here again and I think it’s the best accommodations available in Terlingua for a trip to Big Bend NP.

Went for a Jeep tour with Jeremy. We learned so much about the desert. It was a great tour- definitely recommend!

We booked the 3 hour jeep tour and really enjoyed our tour. Dean was our driver and he is a wealth of knowledge! Beautiful ride into the mountains.

By far the nicest people and accommodations in Terlingua! My husband and I got married here over Easter weekend and they accommodate 22 guests in their casitas and with our ride to Sotol Vista Overlook. J-Mac and Jeremy were our guides and were so kind and knowledgeable about the area! (Not to mention they got us cheeses and fruits and champagne for our reception under their pavilion!)

We will definitely return to Big Bend and absolutely be back to Far Flung Outdoor Center. 10/10!!!!

Bill, Valynda, and the other members of the Far Flung team were all amazing. When planning on kayaking, Valynda was incredibly honest about the low water conditions and what we’d expect and even offered to give our deposit back if we decided against going. Her and Bill also gave us many other options to do in the area and were very informative. We decided to go the next day regardless and one of the members Josh (I think) was patient in instructing us how to properly strap the kayak on our car. The prices are reasonable and all the staff super friendly. This will be the place I choose next time I’m ever in the area.

Just got back from an overnight float trip through Santa Elena Canyon with Far Flung, our guides Jake and Pierce were amazing. The food we had for lunch, dinner breakfast was very good.
All the staff was very friendly.

I Highly recommend Far Flung.

What an amazing, unbelievable trip with the most outstanding guides! Jeremy led the three boats on our trip and was wise beyond years. He was knowledgeable of the wildlife, flora and geology. He and Pierce and Lane worked so well together leading our group of nine on an overnight trip. You can’t help but be a little bit jealous of their “office.” The food served was really great.

We took the 4-hr kayak floating tour on the Rio Grande and it was MUCH fun. It really took 4 hours, and my kids enjoyed every minute. They are doing a great job at accommodating to covid protocols so we felt safe at all times.

SO MUCH FUN! We booked a whole day trip down the river and had a blast. I had never kayaked before but they took a little extra time to get me comfortable and off we went. I can't wait to go again. Remember to take a water proof camera or a case. Wish I had so I could have more photos of the trip on the water.
