Jessica has the Best customer service. Pattie melt & grits!!!! I would give 5 stars but the cook didn't flatten my Pattie out & I had more bread then meat.

Walked at 11:45am with a party of 5 and in the span of 60 seconds we were discouraged from staying by the wait staff 3 different times. We were told it's a 45 minute wait twice, told we could see if we could find a table but they are behind...blah blah blah. Look, I can take a hint! You don't want our business fine. I know it's busy this first weekend before classes starts but being the oldest running cafe west of the Mississippi river you've had a chance to plan. Rumors from those in town I've known for 40+ years said the food is not as good as it once was even though I have enjoyed it in the past....ranking the 1 star.

Food is always good. Casual and comfortable inside with photos and paintings of Huntsville history in the oldest continually open cafe in the same location West of the Mississippi. The cooks know what they're doing.

In all the years I've lived in huntsville, I love this place. I always had great personal service, and delicious food. I've enjoyed this place even when I lived in other locations, and always stop in when I visit. I hope this historic restaurant remains a huge staple of huntsville for years to come.

Horrible service!! Waitress acted like she didn't want to attend our table not once did she smile.. I felt unwelcomed there.. food was ok.. a little over rated by number of stars that some ppl give.. maybe locals do like it.. would not recommend it at all!! definitely won't be going back.. only person that acknowledge us was an older man that was a customer.. I guess he could tell I felt uncomfortable..

Food was average. Had breakfast pork chop with two over easy eggs, hash browns and toast. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but had two cups, however they were very weakly made

Great country cooking! Will remember when in town on business!!

Breakfast is always good; the Texan has been in Huntsville, TX at least since I've lived here (since 1968), and locals come here regularly for breakfast and lunch. The chef salad is especially delicious and very large!

Amber DiGiovanni: The reason might be that they are so popular.
I was there for my first time in Tx on Oct 6 and got the best breakfast ever - but I am glad that my doctor didn't see it :)
I loved the atmosphere there with very nice and socializing guests and staff greeting anyone coming in the door heartily
And they gave me a good address for buying a Stetson in Huntsville.

Small town Cafe that was great.
The waitress was very helpful in answering questions about the area and the Cafe had really good food.
Worth the stop as much better than chains
