Nice coffee shop. Friendly staff. They did a great job making my quad shot cappuccino. Ample space for sitting and having a chat or getting some work done. Bathrooms are clean. Plenty of parking. Service could be a bit quicker but that wasn't a huge issue.

Pretty nice little spot! Well decorated with their own little roasters in-house. Plenty of neat art on the walls, and overall the coffee and food were all good. Clean bathrooms and the plants looked healthy and well tended to. (It’s always kinda weird when a coffee shop is full of dead plants lol.)
I wish they had some savory food options, even if they were just something they resold from a nearby shop.
Overall, we enjoyed it and would be back!

Wow. So hard to find cute, hometown coffee spots in the Energy Corridor. Loving this cozy spot off Kirkwood and Memorial. Easy location. Friendly staff. Great coffee. Down to earth. Good for quiet reading, email answering, waiting out traffic, studying, dates...
They offer roasting classes and brewing classes, they have a printer you can utilize, local art, a comfy leather couch. They even have a little library in case you forgot a book.
Don't let a strip mall fool you. It's the coffee shop you were looking for.

These fantastic little coffee establishments are popping up everywhere! They're not all like Verbena though!!!!
I earmarked Verbena as a stop on my next visit to H-Town, and here we are. Let me just say, I'm SUPER pumped about my experience!!!
First, the vibe is exceptionally chill, and you can almost feel it as you cross the threshold entering the shop.
Jake was the barista for my visit, and he was great in every sense! We struck up conversation and it just seemed to flow. He's quite knowledgeable (which can be rare, even in the "specialty" shops) so it was nice to talk 'shop' with another enthusiast. The espresso shot I ordered was on par, and one of the better ones I've had in town.
Verbena also has a great selection of coffee they roast, along with other great roasters from different areas.
I'm not going to say I'm a seasoned expert, but I do spend a lot of time in, around, and consuming coffee and knowledge. Verbena is one of the better shops I've visited in the U.S. Yes, in the nation! It comes down to the people behind the counter having the knowledge and charisma to entertain both the mind and palate.
Highly recommend Verbena Coffee! Check 'em out!

Vibe- This is a nice spot to study or work, I just wish there was more space inside. There’s a couple of chairs and tables outside. It’s pretty tight but a cute coffee shop nevertheless.
Customer service- Great, the baristas were very friendly!
Food/drinks- I had a matcha latte with vanilla and lavender; I probably wouldn’t get it with lavender again but the drink was tasty.
Parking- There’s parking in front of the shop, a decent amount.

"I had an amazing experience at Verbena Coffee! The ambience was perfect for a cozy morning coffee, and the taste of every cup we tried was out of this world. I would highly recommend this spot for any coffee lover looking for a delicious and comfortable experience. This is definitely one of our new favorites!"

Stopped by to try out this local coffee shop and their service was good. I ordered a [yummy] iced white mocha latte. Would recommend!

This is a great place to get some work done. It's very quaint and quiet with great aesthetics. They use locally sourced coffee beans which gives the coffee a great taste. The only reason I'm not giving it a perfect score is because it doesn't have as much personality as other shops I've visited. Otherwise, it's a cool place to grab a latte, post up, and get some work done!

It was a chill place to relax and drink some coffee. I ordered a cappuccino and I liked the design on it. Kind of a small place and already in the morning it was kind of packed.

espresso/latte quality used to be GREAT->then HIT AND MISS depending on barista->now BAD most of the times
earlier this week when I was there, the barista's process to make my "latte" was:
1. grind beans
2. place portafilter on scale, remove excess grounds w spoon
3. without redistributing the grounds in the portafilter, tamped them with almost no pressure (with the pressure that you would pet a baby kitten perhaps, i.e., nowhere near the ~30lbs needed)
4. while she made the espresso, another barista steamed the milk up to a carboard consistency (with a loud "whoosh" the whole time, obviously a no-no)
5. dumped the milk along with its thick foam (no microfoam in there) on the espresso
hopefully they fix this, and if so I'll remove/revise this review!
PS. some baristas there are EXCELLENT. but like I said it's a hit and miss, and lately, mostly a miss. I've even walked away a couple times after I see the not so great baristas..
