Love the workers and love the furniture/environment. Thankful there’s a quiet and cozy place on weekdays to stop and get some work done. Any chance I get I tell my friends that work in the area about this spot. Only feedback I have is regarding the reward system. I come in a few times a week and get a coffee and add a 10% tip so my total is something like $2.70. Unfortunately, that’s below the minimum purchase amount to count towards the reward system. Not a big deal because they offer one free refill on drip coffee during the same visit but figured I should contribute some sort of feedback to help David and the team. Love what y’all are doing!
Sort of a hidden-gem. 14|18 coffee is a great place to work, talk and, study. I particularly enjoyed the environment where it’s somewhat darker and not too distracting. The seats are super comfy, and the barista was super sweet and wholesome calling people “friend.”
Excellent service. The only reason I took off a star is because my latte was just a tad bit warm not what I expected. Basically room temperature. Maybe my drink was made before the iced latte we also ordered. The iced drink was delicious. It had maple & brown sugar syrup. We frequent the plano location, both are nice & cozy!
I love this place! I got the cinnamon roll & iced chai. Definitely recommend :) our barista Jonathan was so cool, kind, and answered a billion questions.
A much quieter and more relaxed place than the busier location in downtown Plano. The Plano location is a risk for me because sometimes I can't find anywhere to sit or just get stressed with the volume level and constant movement. At this Garland location, the music is a little lower and people chat in hushed tones so it has a very chill, calm feel. Also tons of seating and outlets! There is a side area with dining tables and a wall of floor to ceiling windows for natural light. Then the main room has that 1418 darker, cozy industrial vibe with 6 seating nooks with couches & comfy chairs & plush rugs. There are also a lot of small tables and dining tables with wooden chairs, and a long bar with stools. Loved the relaxed tone and the expansive space!
If I could give 3 and a half stars, I would. Let me tell you about my experience. I went with my brother mid-Saturday morning. I ordered the Café au Lait , and my brother got the drip with some cream and sugar free vanilla syrup. When I left, I got an espresso to go, and a cold brew for the following day, but I did take a sip to write this review.
Positives: Lovely coffee shop, the drip coffee is excellent, the cold brew is also excellent. I love how they sell fresh coffee beans with a roasted on date. Very comfortable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They even let me sample the drip before purchasing. They had breakfast tacos from Taco Joint available, which I thought was pretty awesome. They also had a variety of baked goods.
Not-so positives: My brother was charged for adding cream to his coffee, which we weren't expecting. The espresso I had was extremely sour. I am assuming it was under extracted. maybe the tamp wasn't firm enough, but it could be a number of other factors, like grind size or coffee to water ratio, or maybe the machine just needs cleaning.
Unfortunately, the sour espresso is a big deal to me, as espresso is the main reason I go to coffee shops, and that is why the score I gave is low. Hopefully this was just a fluke, as I haven't seen that mentioned in other reviews. I am going to give the espresso another shot the next weekend, and I'll update this review if things turn out better. I really want to love this place!
UPDATE: I made it back here to give this place another go, and just as I suspected, the espresso this time was excellent, so I have changed the score to 5 stars. The barista was just as kind and friendly as last time. I really enjoyed myself, definitely my favorite coffee shop in the area, and worth the trip.
Nice little coffee shop. We love the Plano location, but this one is closer to home. Always great drinks and we love the atmosphere as well. Perfect for studying, meeting a friend or a small group meet-up.
Great little spot. Much less crowded than the original location, super comfy and perfect to get work done. Its in the lobby of a church so you see church staff walking around every once in a while. I guess I wouldn't recommend going on a Sunday when they have service, it might be packed! But its yummy coffee and I just love how cozy it is. Perfect for reading and writing, or whatever you do at a cafe :)
My wife found this lovely coffee house because they serve authentic espresso. I fell in love with it because they have a delicious London Fog and scrumptious baked goods. Such a quaint and comfy atmosphere with wonderful baristas and staff.
If they could increase the speed of their wifi on their guest network for Saturdays I would change this to a 5 rating. Place has been perfect for all my class study work I do on the weekends. Quit, great coffee, and food.
