I was a barista at a specialty cafe in downtown Seattle for a little while and I consider myself to be a coffee nerd.
I love this place. They are an excellent specialty coffee shop.
Specialty coffee isn’t for everyone. It’s sophisticated and it can be intimidating to learn what some of the terms mean. And specialty coffee tastes much different from large batch coffee like Starbucks and McDonalds. But the baristas here are knowledgeable and friendly.
If you drink a black coffee from Starbucks next to a black coffee from here (or any other specialty coffee place) you will be shocked at the difference, especially if it’s a pour over.
For the full coffee experience, I recommend a pour over with the V60, black, no cream, no sugar. It’s worth trying once. It takes a while to brew a pour over, so don’t get one if you’re in a rush.
Of course, black coffee isn’t for everyone. But I think Casa Cafetzin has a drink for everyone.
Lastly, when you buy this type of coffee, you are supporting a local business and small farms, not Starbucks shareholders. If you buy coffee here, more of your dollar goes to a farmer in somewhere like Oaxaca or Veracruz.
As for the food, I’m not sure. I’ll have to come back, but I’ve heard good things.

Good coffee, cute ambiance, amazing coffee machine. This is exactly what a quality coffee experience should be: made with love, quaint, freshly roasted, exact pulls, full of flavor and time to slow down. Experience vs. convenience wins me over. 💕

I love Casa Cafetzin, everything they do is top nosh quality. The coffee comes from small farms and producers in Mexico. They have a small but carefully crafted menu. My happy place when I'm in El Paso. It is a true coffee roaster shop.

The coffee is artful, and the food is fantastic. I especially recommend the green pozole and the café de olla, things they usually have in the fall and winter. They also feature Mexican artists around their shop. The limits of this spot, though, are that it is pricey, and there isn't much seating, so the space can be awkward. But on a day where you can get a chair and where the people there are relaxed, it's a solid experience.

Super adorable cafe with amazing coffee my favorites are the Macha latte and Iced Americano. Super tasty pastries as well.

Looking forward to my cafe de olla only to find out that it’s “seasonal”. Disappointed. They should have it as a signature year round coffee! I ordered affrogato and yes it was delicious although I was really there for cafe de olla!

Staff was friendly, unlike other reviews. My issue is that it took 20 minutes for me to walk out with an Americano, cappuccino, and hot chocolate. There were people that ordered after me yet received their order before me. The staff had to verify what orders were going out until they started working on mine. I don't think they have a good system set up for their orders. The coffee was very good, I'll give them that. But i won't be back. I'd rather head over to 2TEN. I paid $15 for 3 small cups.

Cozy place with variety of coffee drinks. Their cappuccino is delicious. I also had the chicken pozole which in my opinion was decent. I recommend visiting this hidden gem on the west side.

I love, love, LOVE this place. I first fell in love when I ordered an Indian chai and realized it was made from scratch. 😍
You can tell they really put care and effort into everything they make. I am not a coffee drinker but I love their teas, pastries and vibe.
Their internet is strong, making it great for working, and if you run into lunch time, try their green pozole. It’s delicious!
