Ascension Coffee - Design District

I ordered through Door Dash and the driver called me during my meal pick up to inform me that they were out of the soup I ordered. I told the driver to have them substitute anything with chicken in it and not too spicy because I was feeling under the weather! First, bravo to the Door Dash dude but man, super Kudos to the staff at Ascension Oak Lawn! You made my day and yes, I feeling better! Probably due to the OJ! ♥️♥️♥️😂

I saw this gem on social media and wanted to check it out! My boyfriend and I dropped in for Friday date night. I want to start by saying the atmosphere of this place is AMAZING. The staff is friendly and personable. My boyfriend got a vanilla latte and I tried their iced matcha. The drinks were solid. A bit disappointed that the latte art was a bit messy. While here, we also got a chocolate cake to share.The chocolate cake was more of a ganache texture and had a VERY tart taste to it…if that sounds like it’s up your alley, then it’s worth trying! we’ll definitely be back to try their brunch sometime!

Absolutely amazing coffee and everyone is so nice!

The servers are super fast, today it was the busiest I’ve ever seen it. They initially told me 25-40min wait but they were able to get me in immediately 😊

Ask for Will, he is an incredible server!

The aria eggs Benedict is out of this world, the potatoes our outstanding and I am not normally a big potato eater.

Everyone is so kind and absolutely incredibly fast service and delicious food! 12/10, my new permanent breakfast spot.

And on sunny days there’s a super cute outdoor area that is delightful! 😇

I went to Ascension pre-pandemic, but I have to say that I love it more post pandemic! The new additional side helps open up the space a lot. There is more natural light that comes in.

They have an updated menu, but their coffee and food are still delicious. I ordered a cardamom latte, jasmine tea, and the Latin chicken and grain bowl - I recommended them all.

There are more outlets now and are mainly on the new right side. The wifi password is "drinkmorecoffee".

I came here for brunch and the food, coffee, and atmosphere was great! The menu had a good variety of options of both food and drinks. And this is also a kid friendly restaurant with great outdoor seating. We love coming here on Saturday's and then taking the kids to the Katy trail afterwards (within walking distance). My only complaint is that the staff seemed overwhelmed. This is a problem because they were constantly in a rush, not really responsive to customers, and lacked manners. This may be because they are short-staffed and each server has additional pressure put on them by having to care for more customers than optimal.

Please devote more time to customer service training, hire more staff, and build a staff that really makes customers feel welcome and at home. This is such a great place with great food, don't let poor customer service hold it back!

Everything about Ascension is likeable but I have to take exception with two things, and I need to tell you I live right next door. 1.) At 4:00 am on the dot every morning the trash truck comes in and plays bongo drums with 1-3 seperate dumpsters... when their solo is done, it's backup beep time, and hey, with the truck still reverse, I can't think of a better time to do a little paperwork... but what the heck another 5-10 minutes of {beep} {beep} {beep} makes sure that REM sleep you so crave is wiped out. 2.) Just for fun on Monday 10/3/22 they decided they needed to create a full daylight atmosphere for the daily trash truck rap. But hey, don't point the lights down, point them up and horizontally at the many patient, tolerant, apartments less than 20 yards away.
Thanks ownership, thanks management... I'm sure this is safety related but you cheaped out on a couple big lights horizontal or upward instead of multiple lights facing down and maybe a blue light safety phone. Hmmm... wonder if this breaks any zoning codes. I used to think people did this kind of stuff on purpose, but in my old age I have found that people do these kind of things out of ignorance or just plain unaware. Can you fix this?

Great food and excellent service. The wait time was minutes and they kept checking our table often to make sure all was good.

I only purchased from the coffee/ drink menu on this visit, but overall it was a great visit! The service was great! The atmosphere was very casual, light and pleasant. Made for a perfect Friday afternoon meeting area with co-workers. We were able to talk amongst each other without being overpowered or overheard by another conversation and vice versa.

got a sandwich and coffee togo and did not expect this place to look so cute on the inside! super great vibes and general atmosphere is on point! love it all! also expected the coffee to be bitter so i asked for more flavoring but the grind and beans tasted great! Way above my expectations for a small joint. Staff was nice and i would like to personally thank the hiring manager for selecting a fine looking group of people.
