The Wayback

We recently had our daughter’s wedding at The Wayback and also booked all the cottages for our out-of-town guests. Sydney did an amazing job of making sure everything was perfectly planned and executed throughout the entire weekend. I can’t say enough about the entire team who helped us navigate cold and rainy weather to make the wedding perfect! They were so accommodating, kind and happy! Our guests felt cozy and special! Even with the weather challenges- they made sure my daughter had her dream wedding!

We just got home from a trip to Austin, The Wayback was a perfect way to enjoy Austin if you prefer a quieter more relaxing ambience.

Sydney was wonderful and helpful even before I booked my stay. We arrived very late due to weather issues and the keys and everything were exactly where Sydney said they would be. She even drew a map on where my cottage was exactly. We arrived from a long and very stressful flight and it was nice to not have to worry about the whole check in process at 3am.

The cottages were beautifully appointed and my son loved the little nook bed in cottage 5, it was also at the very back of the property so it was quiet and peaceful.

If you aren’t familiar with the city tho, yes this property is about 20 minutes outside of downtown. It’s not exactly a hotel so don’t expect turn down service and fresh towels. Although if you need there are directions on exactly where you can find extra towels.

We did do some prior planning ahead of time and knew that we would need to drive into downtown or other areas for food. All in all, my family loved our stay and we left with an amazing first impression of Austin.

One of my favorite places to have lunch with friends and date nights with my husband. The staff is amazing, craft cocktails are unique and delicious and the food is phenomenal. Love the ambience and the location.

We were helped by a few people to be seated outside, everyone so kind. They were busy but didn't show it. I Hosted a small baby brunch and couldn't have dreamed up a more ideal location. Fresh juices were fantastic. Had burrata to start served with ciabatta asparagus and cherry tomatoes, so good. my chicken and waffles was crispy, hot - just delightful. Friends got salads with shrimp, chicken, quiche - all delish. Highly recommend this brunch spot!!!

We made a reservation (called) for four for a Friday night dinner. Arrived at the Cafe, they did not have a table for us. GM told us WE cancelled our reservation earlier in the day online, impossible to do since we called in the reservation. They offered to seat us on the grass (not the patio) in 90 percent humidity and threat of flooding rains. THEY DID NOT APPEAR TROUBLED BY THE SITUATION THEY CREATED! Very disappointed; we were looking forward to a lovely evening, however had to go elsewhere.

Very beautiful place to have a romantic time, I was very pleased with everything including the staff. The cottages are super nice and cozy, the food is incredible as well as their cocktails. I have nothing negative to report only positives.

We had an amazing dinner last Saturday night. Matthew helped ensure we had a special evening with family and friends. The food was absolutely delicious. We will be back very soon.

Our stay was perfect. The cottage was clean, set up for us when we arrived, and the staff was extremely accommodating—especially w/ our late arrival for check in.

The Wayback was the PERFECT space for our intimate wedding! Not only was Sydney super flexible, but her space is beautiful! Located right outside of downtown Austin, The Wayback provides a beautiful scenic view for the ceremony space as well as outdoor/indoor options for the reception space. They require you to book out all of the cottages for two nights when hosting a wedding, so we had our close friends & family stay with us on site turning it into a wedding weekend instead of just a wedding night. I HIGHLY recommend this as it made it like a mini getaway for the people that stayed on the property. After the wedding everyone wished they booked another night because the space was just so peaceful & fun! The guests that weren't in the wedding party got to hang out by their beautiful pool until the wedding & then after the wedding the majority of our guests got to walk back to their cottages where they were staying. One of the big deal breakers for us when looking for a venue was trying to find a space that could provide us with a completely vegan dinner & The Wayback was super receptive of this & sent us multiple options whenever it came time to choose our menu. The staff was friendly, helpful, & very quick on their feet! I am so glad to have found The Wayback as I can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else! We now plan to make The Wayback a yearly trip we make for our anniversary because we enjoyed it that much!

Thank you for an amazing weekend away! The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was fantastic (best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had), the bed was comfortable, the room was clean, the drinks were great and mock tails were perfect, and it’s a beautiful getaway spot that’s quiet and just magical. It was the perfect weekend we enjoyed together before welcoming our baby into the world! Thank you for a relaxing weekend that was PERFECT.
