El Alma

These days it's easy to get a little bored with repetitive tex mex flavors, however El Alma does it new.

The complimentary salsas were phenomenal, I wish I could have these all the time. The dishes were unique and delicious. Even after stuffing myself I didn't feel regret, a rarity for a lot of meals.

Our waiter tony was top class! Hilarious, knowledgeable and attentive.

This is hands down one of the BEST restaurants in Austin and trust me I know there is a lot to chose from. I eat here frequently and have never had a single thing I didn’t love. The Al pastor tacos, chicken enchiladas and sopa Azteca are my favorites. If Seth’s bartending you’re lucky because he is amazing and the margs there are like a little piece of heaven.

If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place!!! It has great food and great drinks. This place has a TON of margaritas/cocktails - if you’re a marg lover like me, GO HERE. The food is also really delicious. I ordered 3 different types of tacos (cactus, pork, and duck(?) — and they were super tasty). The other people from my party were pleased with what they ordered too. And someone mentioned that their lamb chops were great! Highly recommend.

Genuinely not real Mexican food. Really really beautiful place, food is generally awful, lacking flavor, presentation, and chicken appears to be reheated/microwaved. Maybe new cooks? No idea whats going on. The Queso is good ngl. This place is NOT worth the money

This place left me feeling a little frustrated.

First the good. El Alma makes incredible salsas. Both of them were very flavorful and delicious. The black beans and white cheese were also very authentic and the picked veggies were a brilliant touch.

Then the bad. The arrachera was a bit dry sadly. It was also served with pickled nopales which were tasty but there was too much of them. If you finished all of them all of the acidity would burn your tongue. The arrachera I should mention is easily fixable at the table with some fresh lime juice and their delicious red salsa. Yum.

The ugly. Thier house margaritas have sour mix. Enough said. Yes they have top shelf margaritas which are probably really good but this one left me with a bad taste.

Overall I'm trying to hate this place but the goodness of it just makes that impossible. Lessons learned for the next trip.

Great happy hour everyday 3-6. Love their mangorita! Amazing apps. Love the rellenos. The enchiladas are also great, where you can choose your filling and sauce. Great, food, great view of the city, friendly staff!

First timer. Everything was delicious!!! Table shared Queso, ceviche, plátanos, gringas, and papitas. Can't wait to go back.

Really cool atmosphere. Sat on the roof top which was really cool, except we were near the bar/fill station so it got really loud at times. Food was very good (not super spicy), mango mimosas were excellent. Server (sorry didn't catch his name) was very nice and gave good recommendations (visited 3/10/19), price point is good. Parking can be a bit tight at times. Def going back. :)

The food was a bit overpriced. I was not impressed by what I got which was the Duck Mole Enchiladas. However the service was really good and the drinks were impeccable. The view also was *Chefs Kiss* I advise you go for happy hour from 3-6 and get a light bite.

Come here!!! The view is absolutely amazing and the food is just as divine!! Everything tastes fresh and the drinks are done just right. If you're looking for spicy food, this is not the place for you.
