El Alma

El Alma? More like La Cucaracha. We were seated at the upstairs/outside patio area and spent a good portion of our evening watching the wanderings of a fat 3 inch-long cockroach. We watched it amble back and forth along the wooden deck boards and up the siding next to customers’ heads. As it made another round near our sandal-clad feet, one of the members of our party had to stand up to move away from its path. Our waiter helpfully noted, “oh, ha ha, I guess it’s back again” and continued on like nothing was amiss. No effort was made to address the situation. It seemed like this was no big deal. If the staff is this comfortable with seeing it out by customers, it makes me wonder how it is behind-the-scenes. This is the second time we’ve seen a cockroach here.
The only reason for the 2 stars of this review was for the food.

We worked with El Alma for catering for our backyard wedding. The tasting was delicious and Alma herself came out to greet and serve us! Our wedding guests have remarked plenty that they really enjoyed the food. Couldn't have chose better.

We were outside as it started pouring down rain and the manager Ash took such great care of us. She had staff help us inside with coverings and even got us a table inside even though it was a Friday evening and busy. It was above and beyond service. The food was great and experience even greater despite the bad weather! Thanks Ash and El Alma.

Unfortunately, I received food poisoning from the ceviche or the shrimp tacos. I loved the restaurant and was excited to return. However, after getting sick shortly after the thought of this restaurant makes me nauseous. Very unfortunate given how much I enjoyed my experience. I would just beware of the seafood.

Always a winner! The tacos and margs are the best! Get the avocado margarita…I promise, you won’t be disappointed. I know it looks like a dive when you pull up, but the patio is always great.

2 cockroaches!!!! A large cockroach was walking on the floor from the kitchen headed towards the hostess stand. A server saw and and stomped it and continued about her business. Then while eating, another cockroach flew from the direction of the kitchen by our heads and landed on the wall next to our table. I told the server to tell the owner to have the place exterminated. She seemed unbothered. The bill came and I was shocked it was not comped as I couldn’t eat anymore after seeing the cockroach. The manager said cockroaches fly in the front door and there’s nothing they can do about it.

Oh my gosh, where do I begin?! Upon entering the restaurant you immediately feel transported to a different location. The decor is super cute and quaint. This place has a roodtop patio that is gorgeous! The food was pretty phenomenal! And of gosh the jalapeño cornbread is perfection! Highly recommend for any occasion!

Had a late lunch on a Monday afternoon on the patio. Nick, our server, was very attentive and helpful, and provided excellent service. The food was very fresh and seasoned perfectly. We recommend the cheese enchiladas with tomatillo sauce and black bean sauce. The jalapeño crab queso is exceptional! Great day, great service, great food!

Busy place with a very wide Tequila Selection. The food has more of a Cuban / South American influence rather than your typical Tex-Mex Items. The rice is white, the beans are black. The Chilie Relleño was filled with Cheese and White Rice, it didn't Gabe much flavor was almost raw and not egg battered. The tacos were tasty, but small and for $5-6/pc her to fill up on. I definitely don't need a server asking if I want more Iced Tea just bring it and don't take my glass completely away from the table. I would go back if I had to.

Shrimp tacos and frozen mango margarita were really good. They have free parking and we were lucky enough to get a spot as someone was leaving. Neighborhood streets around it are permit only.
