I was very excited to try comedor for rhe first time but was disappointed with their most popular dish. The bone marrow tacos. They were extremely salty, even the greens were inedible, so had to send it back. The cochinita dish my partner ordered was also super salty but somewhat edible. Truly saddened to have this bad experience.

Tacos tacos tacos... The great thing about them is how many types there are. Today I wanted to talk about a unique variation I had during my visit at Comedor.

What I got to eat was their Bone Marrow taco dish. If you haven't had bone marrow before, it's almost like butter, but a bit more nutty and sweet. Mix that with their pecan herbal sauce that was on top and WOW, the flavor explosion in your mouth is insane. So good! You simply scoop from the bone itself and place it on your tortilla.

Now what I got for dessert is their Milcrepa dish which is made with layers of crepe, Mexican chocolate, crunchy almonds, pomegranate, and gelato. As a crepe guy, I was a huge fan.

In terms of how big the bone marrow dish was, I recommend that you split it because that's what I did with my friend (and got an extra side of tortillas) and after eating dessert - we both left satisfied. It may not seem like a lot at first glance, but the bone marrow is really rich and heavy, so you'll be okay!

All in all, I am a huge fan of the place. Yes, it's upscale, but it's worth it to come at least once for a night out with friends or date night because not only is the food delicious, but the ambiance is gorgeous and low lit (at night). Romi was my waitress, so ask for her! She was so nice. I definitely wanna come back to try other dishes!

I love finding new gems! Came for a work happy hour and never knew this place existed. We were a party of 6 and sat very comfortably in a spacious booth. Drinks, service and food were great. Artichoke dip was dank and i had the turkey sam - delicious.

Absolutely spectacular food and drinks, and the bartender that served us was top notch!! We were there for our anniversary and he got everyone to sign a congratulations note! We were blown away by every detail.

Comedor is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. Chic decor mixed with upscale Mexican is a match made in Heaven. I stopped in and loved everything I tried.
I'm sure I'll be back when I'm in town.

Everything was tasty. The martini was the perfect drink to sip on throughout the meal. It was balanced in the way a good cocktail should be; complex and strong but not harsh. The grilled broccolini with dukkah and shoyu powder was a phenomenal introduction to Comedor. It was such umami blast in the best way. I probably like this dish’s flavor profile the best. My least favorite dish was probably the quesadilla, and it was still yummy, it just wasn’t anything which I felt was uniquely delicious. I did keep the smoky red salsa at the table for the tacos al vapor. The tacos al vapor were messy, but the dish was so comforting. It felt like a dish at Sunday lunch made with love by your abuela, who woke up early just to make the food. Finally, the bone marrow tacos, the pièce de résistance. They were, simply put, profound. Something so sinfully rich and complex, that every bite was a new discovery. The kale cooked in smoked butter could standalone, but it was a perfect complement to the marrow. The whole taco was a fantastic textural and flavor experience. You have an almost brûléed topping with a coarse-ground meal accompanied by a soft kale and a melt-in-your-mouth marrow. I felt like such a glutton after. The pavlova was a great, light way to end such a heavy meal. It was worth every single calorie.

Extraordinary work by the team in the kitchen. Our meal was superb. Don’t miss the bone marrow tacos. Sounds like an unusual dish, and it is, but so tasty. Congratulations to chef Philip Speer and the crew.

Very good brunch food and cocktail. The space is an extension of the building it’s attached to. It has a modern minimalistic vibe, which I appreciate. We ordered the hot sandwich (torta), the pancake, the tongue tacos (lengua tacos), the fish tacos, and the mushroom quesadilla. The pancake and the torta were my favorite, followed by the fish tacos, the tongue tacos, then the quesadilla. We also had their Sotol Cucumber cocktail, which was very refreshing. Had a bottle of their sparkling rose, which was okay, but I was probably more interested in the food anyway. Would absolutely come back. The only thing I wondered about is their glasses - the material is borderline glass/plastic, which doesn’t really fit with the rest of the experience.

Great date night restaurant. Fish tacos were amazing. Cocktails were just how I like them: smooth and not very sweet. We went for our anniversary and they brought champagne to the table to celebrate. We'll definitely be back.

Had a large group for dinner here and our service was great! Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and helped us find the perfect tapas options for everyone’s pallet. He also recommended a great whiskey sour from their bartender on staff that was wonderful! Best dish was by far the fish tacos though the quesadilla was also tasty. Very tender fish and an tasty aioli base on the shell! (Wonderful flavors!!). We ordered about 3 different tapas for each group of 3 which is about enough for everyone to feel full
