Heard a lot of good things about this place from friends and family, finally decide to give it a try for the first time this morning. There was a long line, but the wait was not too bad, about 10 minutes. The food was delicious, the coffee was amazing, and the service was great! Will be coming back for sure!

Came for the great rating and left surprisingly disappointed. If you're within walking distance, then this is a decent choice. If you're driving 15+ minutes for breakfast, then there are other better choices around town.
They recommended their daily specials as their best options. We ordered one and the server was complimentary of a great choice. It either had no flavor or tasted like what I would expect if I pulled basic products out of my freezer this morning: generic reheated sausage patties; generic biscuits from a factory processed tube; etc. My son ordered an omelet that likewise was disappointingly bland. We ordered a side of pancakes, a staple in our evaluation of new spots, same experience. We almost never leave food uneaten, at least taking remainders to go. We left half of the pancakes and half of the biscuits & gravy. What does that tell you?
Also, for a place with a name like this I would have liked to see more from their coffee quality and selection. At least it was good enough, whereas coffee at other diners can taste like the bottom of a pot at a gas station. It was nice to see they served half and half instead of fake creamer.
Pros: They process people quickly. The wait times for a table and then for the food were good. (It was loud the whole time. I wonder if that discourages conversation and helps people eat and leave faster?) Staff was cheerful. The place seemed clean. I think the prices were good and I'm just dissatisfied with what I paid due to the quality of the meal.
Overall, we won't be giving this place another try. (I'm pretty sure I ate here a few years ago and wasn't impressed then either.)

Never had a bad experience here.
Where most of Austin is overpriced, lacking flavor, or the service is horrid, Cafe Java has always been a highlight.
The service, impeccable and helpful at every turn. The speed at which they get you seated, even while busy, and fed is quite unheard of throughout ATX.
Prices are unbeatable even though i’ve been an avid customer since the Java was $7, you still can’t beat it.
The staff always makes us feel welcome and every item on the menu is always good, otherwise, they get it right for you. Great place, never will stop coming.
Get the java, biscuit, and the country scramble eggs!

Good service. Good specialty coffee drinks and they have coffee for the wait! Great price. Large breakfast selection.

Absolutely adore this place! They have such a homey and warm feel indoors, while being surrounded by local artwork. The food is quick and so tasty! The coffee is delicious, and you can grab a cup before you're called for your table. Everyone who works there seems to enjoy it, and it's a very welcoming experience! The prices are very affordable, and my husband and I enjoy every visit we are able to make!

Simple well made food every time. The hill country breakfast plate is a winner. The biscuits are surprisingly light in texture so you'll have no problem slamming down the whole plate. Endless coffee will jumpstart your morning/afternoon.

This was the first time my husband and I visited. We stumbled in because we were late getting out for breakfast and other locations had a long wait. This place did not disappoint and it's now going to be our go to!!! We had a bit of a wait which is usual for a Saturday morning but they dished out our food so fast! We ordered and it was there when we barely got our coffee. 🤣 I am making it a point to bring our whole family back.

This place always seems to be buzzing with life, which can be good or bad depending on what your dining preferences are. It can get a bit cramped in here from all the people, but overall, it felt cozy to me. The staff is very friendly and helpful. While they do have many good deals, some items are a little bit pricey for what they are. Definitely check out the daily specials they have up if you like trying new things.

Best diner I've been to in Austin. Very generous portions, staff are always happy to accommodate custom orders, and prices are very reasonable. Also love that they keep copies of the daily paper on the bar counter for guests to read while enjoying a coffee/meal!

Only been here for breakfast food but they never disappoint. Staff behind the counter are always friendly. "Old Austin feel"
