As all coffee shop adventures go, I was a little hesitant at first. Who likes to order an espresso drink that tastes burnt or over acidic... :p ... but to my surprise the espresso blend was very pleasant. Good body, nice undertones and no bitterness ... a very smooth finish. Before I knew it I was coming by every morning... Oatmilk Late . Yes, please!

If you're coming here for the first time, here are some things to expect . Good food... make that great food (Seriously there's some wizard stuff going on in the kitchen ) and delicious espresso drinks. Do yourself a favor and try the Better Half Breakfast Sandwich - As you see in the pictures, it's like eating art... delicious and crispy potato hash & perfectly poached egg - art.

Hope you enjoy this place as much as I do.

Great little place for brunch in my opinion. The pastrami hash was delicious and I enjoyed the iced mocha. Parking is also super easy since they have a large lot. Two others also order the granola bowl and breakfast sandwich which they split. They both loved them. I also overheard a lady behind me saying their pancakes were the best ones she's ever had.

The breakfast sandwich has been my favorite in Austin!!! The coffee is super good too. The patio is perfect for groups. Highly recommend this place.

Overpriced food that just isn't good. Dirty tables and dull apathetic staff. Perfect for Austinites but skip this place if you're used to enjoying your meals.

Cool space, great food and has tons of free parking!
This place has become a respite from traffic after work. They have possibly the most available free parking of any downtown bar/restaurant. If you make it in between 3pm - 6pm you can catch their happy hour which includes a delicious $5 burger (beef, chicken or veggie).
Other faves are their biscuits, loaded queso and burnt cheesecake with cherries. They also make a yummy yuzu iced tea.
The interior space is pretty small but they do have a large outdoor patio area with picnic tables and other seating options. Dog friendly.

This is a great spot! I love they have their own parking lot and open early on Saturday’s. Great coffee and drinks. I’m their waffle has browns are a must! Outside and indoor seating. Dog friendly.

The happy hour cheeseburger stands up to any other cheeseburger I've ever had regardless of price. But for $5 might be the best overall value I've ever found. And their biscuits are also to die for. With incredible coffee and a nicely curated drink menu, this is one of the top 3 or so stops in Austin for me.

Tasty counter service food and drinks with some desserts. Their cocktails were divine! My favorite was the "vodka drink" on draft and the peaches with haloumi cheese salad. Nommms! Easy parking the the attached lot or streets nearby.

Green Knight

The Green Knight enjoyed a fantastic week-end lunch at Better Half. We highly recommend the Pastrami Sandwich and the Chicken Biscuit, topped off with a Carafe of Mimosas!! Delish!

Not sure how this place has 4.5 stars, and I’ll explain why. We came here to get some dinner and drinks, you first order inside and then you can find your own table either outside or inside, it’s up to you. When we were ordering our cashier (because this is a counter service) Jackie, was one of the most unfriendly and unpleasant people I’ve ever met, she never greeted us and never even looked our faces she was just AWFUL, I felt extremely unwelcome and disregarded. We sat inside because it was very packed outside and we couldn’t find a table, no biggie. We sit inside and we noticed that the napkin dispenser says “no laptops at booths” which is kind of funny because this a coffee shop, I’m sure most people would like to come and sit here to get some work done while they either eat or drink. Weird. Talking about drinks, they were just meh, nothing innovating or different, I felt I was drinking at dirty 6th just paying west 5th prices.
We ordered queso and for a minute I thought I was eating cheese whiz with Smokey brisket and pickled red onions, the consistency of the cheese was thick and weird, again, just meh. The entrees were good but not good enough to make me forget how awful their customer service is.
Sometimes trying a new place is not only about the food and drinks, but about the service and the experience.
