McKay's Bakery

I've been going to McKay's for almost 25 years and have never been disappointed. I don't live in Abilene anymore, but every time I come back to visit, McKay's is right at the top of my list for treats!

Thank you for the awesome cake!!! My girlfriend ordered our wedding cake from you and it was beautiful as well as delicious! I would definitely recommend your bakery to anyone wanting a special dessert!

I bought a 1/4 sheet cake for my grandson's B-day, and, well, it was ok. Honestly, the cake was dry and the frosting had a weird taste to it. My wife and I didn't think it was much better than Sam's Club bakery.

Got the most delicious red velvet cake from here a couple days ago. It was easy to order over the phone and the pricing was very reasonable. Cute little downtown store too. Will be my new go to for sweets

This place is a hit or a miss. Their sandwiches are pretty good but their baked goods are sub par. The chocolate pie was pretty tasty but their cherry pie was disgusting, it tasted like vinegar to both my husband and myself. Just terrible. They have a harvest muffin that was pretty good one morning but this morning they were just gross, like if wasn't even the same recipe.
I feel like every time we give them another chance we end up wasting money and saying "well we won't be going there any more".

YUMMY! Thought I was getting a cheese danish which I love. It runes out to be an almond paste one! YUM!! Then they have these cinnamon sugar muffins which are their mini coffee cakes actually. YUM! I asked about their coffee. The women said it was just regular coffee. I said I don't get much coffee so when I do I like it really good! the nice young women said there is a very good coffee shop across the street. She was right!! Thank u McKays!

We ordered my grandpa's 80th Birthday cake here. I laid out what I wanted the cake to look like. I wanted them to do some of it by hand and asked them to do the complex image with a sugar sheet. They didn't. So long story short. I was disappointed with the lack of listening of a worker which ended up in a disappointing design of the cake. The cake and icing was good..though the cake tasted like it was a bit stale.

I had a odd request cake and had a short turnaround time. They took care of it and it turned out great! Cake was tasty as well as the other items I bought. Very satisfied customer.

Daughter just sent me a box of goodies for Thanksgiving including a small rum fruit cake from McKays bakery. It was positively Devine and also may be the best I've had in my 76 years of life . Can't recommend enough. If you love fruitcake as I do, you MUST GET ONE.

Was home visiting family. So happy to see this place is still in business. Picked up 3 dozen cookies for the nurses at Abilene Regional taking care of my mom. Everything was great.
