Great service, home-cooked breakfast served every morning, Fishing spots on the creek, rustic yet comfortable rooms, and a rich history. I was able to forget about school stress and enjoyed my time in the Black Hills to the fullest; thanks to Hisega. I wish I could rate 6 stars!
This is definitely a gem within the mountains. It is set in the Black Hills by a stream that is extremely relaxing to hear to during the day and night. While access to the city is easy, this place is just far enough to give you that peace of mind needed to separate yourself from the busy workings of everyday life. Highly recommended! The breakfast is also fantastic and the hosts are very welcoming.
Breakfast, location, services, house blend coffee, historically interesting, wildlife, room quality, atmosphere. Best place to enjoy the Black Hills for 2 days or a week. Regardless of what GPS or map services say, paved roads all the way up to short gravel-packed parking lot.
I can't say a single negative thing about our stay at the Hisega Adventure Lodge. After the place we were supposed to stay at fell through, Tara saved the day and helped fit us in. We stayed in one of the family suites and it had all the amenities of a hotel plus some. The breakfasts were amazing, one morning included the most fluffy and delicious pancakes that I have ever had. We had 2 young kids with us and they made sure there were kid friendly options each day. One of the days we stayed there, they had a race ending at the lodge and Tara made sure to communicate with us and save a parking spot for us. The location was beautiful and the Lodge was absolutely charming. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the area.
I've heard of Hisega Adventure Lodge and had driven by it in the past which piqued my curiosity. It's a short drive out of Rapid City located in the Black Hills National Forest. This is fantastic for locals who want to get away but need to stay close. I finally got the chance to stay overnight with my boyfriend and loved it. I wish my schedule allowed me to stay the entire weekend! The owners, Tara and Mike, are very accommodating, gracious and responsive. They were flexible with check in time and inquired about dietary restrictions as they serve breakfast in the morning as they do their best to meet the needs of their guests. Mike provided us with a tour at check in, went down the street to grab a bite to eat at the Mexican restaurant, and then returned to get settled in our room for the night. The room had recently been renovated and I loved the what I consider the modern vintage look the room has. I was expecting something pretty rustic as the building is over 100 years old, but this room has electrical outlets on both sides of the bed so you can charge your electronic devices, a super comfortable bed and bedding, a thermostat that you can adjust, a ceiling fan above the bed, a sink & mini fridge, a nice sitting area and two entrances (yes, they have modern locks) to the wrap around balcony that you can sit and enjoy the scenery and company on. You'll hear the peaceful roar of the creek and can keep windows open or doors to your room open if you feel comfortable to fall asleep and wake up to the sound. They roast their own coffee and smelling thar during our stay was divine! Guests have access to the main room in the lodge 24 hours a day with complimentary soda, coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available along with the option to purchase beer and wine as well as the coffee they roast on site. Bathrobes, towels/washcloths, slippers, and some toiletries provided. Bathrobes are such a nice touch and made it feel like home. The homemade breakfast was a twice baked potato with veggies and a fresh out of the oven homemade chocolate muffin with their coffee, water and orange juice. Absolutely delicious! The hot tub was available during our stay and it was so relaxing to sit there and look up at the stars. Note that the hot tub is not always available, so be sure to inquire if you are interested in using it. To book a room, you'll need to contact them on Facebook or via their website. They also offer group adventure weekends, so check their website for more info and they can book events for you too. I was so impressed with my stay and how well we were accommodated and how comfortable we were. I can't wait to book another stay!
Hisega Adventure Lodge is a hidden away gem in the Black Hills. The owners were kind and helpful while sharing stories of their own adventures. The beds were extremely comfy and the lodge itself cozy. Breakfast on the porch each morning was like what you'd get at a high end restaurant especially when paired with their amazing coffee. We cannot wait to plan another trip out next summer.
Place is out of this world! It’s what you didn’t expect and more. They serve breakfast at 8:30 sharp, don’t be late because you might just miss the best breakfast you’ll ever eat! Each day was a new creative dish that provided something savory and sweet.
The owners are down-to-earth, family oriented people that get it, they’ll go above and beyond to ensure the best possible experience.
The rooms were clean and provided modern conveniences like usb charging, wireless charging, high speed Wi-Fi, and fire tv. It made our vacation experience incredible.
Hisega Adventure Lodge is in exceptional location, featuring welcoming hosts, generous accomodations and exceptional service. At the top of the list is the simply delicious breakfasts that are prepared for guests. The rooms are well furnished with all conveniences one needs for a comfortable stay. The location is tucked away but not "remote". Perfect for a retreat from it all. Near-by trails, lakes and your 30 lin from town or a few more minute to Mt. Rushmore. If you are a motorcycle adventure rider the events immersion training cannot be beat. All are well planned, with everything thought through providing for a memorable immersion experiance. But I must say the hospitality provided by the propietors really made for an exceptional experiance!
The Hisega Adventure Lodge is a beautiful retreat from the touristy areas of Rapid City. Tara and Mike went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. From the comfy bed to the delicious breakfast & coffee, this place is outstanding. The views are amazing and we were able to take a nice hike early in the morning. The only downfall was that we couldn’t stay longer. We will definitely be back!
Incredible place to stay. The location couldn’t be more perfect, tucked away in the peaceful Black Hills. There are many interesting trails around the lodge (bring a map and don’t get lost right before sunset like we did). Rock formations like I’ve never seen are scattered around the area and Rapid Creek runs right in front of the lodge.
Prices were cheap considering how nice the lodge was and how gourmet breakfast was.
The room we stayed in, Ada, was definitely small but still comfortable and cozy. TV had Netflix etc. but you won’t want to spend much time indoors once you see the setting of this place.
The owners were inviting and the staff was friendly. Loved meeting the animals as well. Two hairless cats and a very friendly dog.
The lodge features a common area with large couches to relax on, a small library-ish area with interesting books that relate to the black hills, and two big wrap around porches with ample seating that are open to guests.
If you’re looking for a beautiful place to stay with even better views you won’t find anywhere that has better bang for your buck. I can’t recommend this place more and am sending my both my parents and my boyfriend’s parents there for upcoming trips.
