Essence of Coffee

Absolutely amazing! Came in for breakfast and was not disappointed by the avocado bagel. Had a spiced chia latte to go with it and personally I think it was the best one in town!

The flat white was perfect, and the barista made up a great bowl of fruit for my daughter. The vibe is cozy and comfortable! My only complaint is they only have one high-chair. I would love for them to have more high chairs available so we could make this our new favorite place for regular moms+babies+coffee outings.

Great coffee, great food, great location. The only problem is limited hours. I can only stop in a few times a year, but if the hours extended into late afternoon or early evening during the week I would stop in a few times a month. As more local coffee houses turn to the super bright and stark model, comfy places like Essence become more of a gem.

My wife and I first visited Essences of Coffee back February, while visiting Rapid City. Both of us really enjoyed the food, and setting. So now, that we're back in town, we made sure to stop by for breakfast. Once again, food and outside setting was spectacular!

Best coffee between Denver and Minneapolis! Also some surprisingly great breakfasts. Did I mention the awesome coffee? These folks understand GOOD coffee. A very welcome find in the Hills! Please stay here for life!

Coffee is out of this world, especially the Aussie coffee with ice cream instead of regular cream. It's never stale or tastes like cardboard like Starbucks. The coffee has a silky smooth finish and no bitterness. One of the only places in Rapid to get locally roasted beans; they roast in store!

I'm sitting here right now and had to leave a review before I forget. The food and coffee are absolutely delicious and hitting the spot after an active day yesterday. The service is amazing, and who I assume is the owner stopped by to chat with us. I wish I lived here so I could come back!

First off the owner knows his stuff when it comes to roasting, regions, and their impact on the flavor profile. Second he took the time to help me pick out a good roast. And since I'm from MN/WI(where people only seem to want to do dark roasts) I was delighted to learn that they focus on light roasts. The espresso was incredible with a thick crema. So props on their beans and the owner. Third the Baristas know their craft and made a great latte with perfect foam. And finally, get the food. I just about died when I had their breakfast sandwich. And then died again when I had their soup. Great establishment guys, you were the cherry on top of my motorcycle adventure riding trip to the black hills.

Their salted caramel iced latte is delicious. Their coffee is really strong though so this is not for people who like a splash of coffee with their cream and sugar. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was chic and cozy.
