Second State Coffee

I travelled to Charleston and this cafe was near the area I was staying at so I went. I met a young lady named Chloe and she took care of my order. She was so kind and her service towards was very nice! She made the best Vanilla oat latte i ever tasted :D. I will definitely be coming back in the future.

I couldn’t love Second State anymore!! It’s my go to spot in Charleston for bags of whole bean (can’t even pick a fave!), iced lavender lattes with oat milk and their granola bars at the counter. I love each location, but my fave is the one in Oyster Park which is close to my house and a great vibe for working on admin work between paintings as a Charleston based artist… always fueled by the best! Speaking of the best.. CHLOE is the best barista! She’s knowledgeable, fun, sweet and so dang cute. Not that cute matters, but it’s like the lavender in my latte… just an extra lil bit of goodness! I’m always and forever Second State’s biggest hype girl! Thank you for your quality and vibe for all these years! Keep it up, pretty please! :)

Chloe and Madison at second state make the whole experience awesome! They are super friendly and ask me about my day, my family and I look forward to seeing them every time I come in! Been coming here for years and I recommend anyone local or out of town, to stop in and get a drink. You don’t won’t be disappointed!

Amazing place. Really peaceful and quiet. Amazing coffee. My special Thanks to barista at location 1410 Shucker Cir Ste - her name is Chloe. She is brilliant. My husband is not a huge fun of coffee but even he appreciates quality of latte when she makes it.

Originally found this little location on accident, but this is by FAR my favorite coffee shop to hang out and do homework at, the staff is so kind and the coffee is the best in the area (and I am fairly confident I have tried every place in the area, as a college student I'm always scoping out new spots!). Cute, clean, great atmosphere and location, would give more stars if I could!

Depending on who is working the til and who is making your coffee, the experience can range from excellent to a Starbuck's level.

Staff turnover is pretty high so the consistency in their product also varies from day-to-day.

If you are pushed for time, do not go here. The queue, even with only 3-4 people can take 10-15 mins to get served and then another 10 for your coffee.

Nice people, but Im not there for nice people. I'm there for a great coffee, served quickly. Quickly being the key word.

Second State has some of the best coffee I've ever had. There is a lady barista working there and I strongly recommend you get coffee whenever she is working. She knows her coffee and that machine inside and out. It has a hint of bitterness, yet the bitterness doesn't overwhelm the coffee. I would recommend the cortado to fully get the coffee flavor.

They specialize in their coffee. They make authentic Italian-style drinks, from what she told me. But please don't buy the pastries. That was one of the worst scones I've ever had.

Customer service was excellent. I didn’t know what to get and they helped me pick out which one depending upon the flavors. Coffee delicious. My vegan muffin was amazing. I loved the overall vibe. Definitely recommend.
