Metto Coffee & Tea

We have visited Metto at least once a week for five years. We always sit outside and never overstay our welcome. We are good customers buying $15 to $20 in pastries each visit. I always tip 20% or 30%. This morning we walked in to order and the Owner, in a loud and demeaning voice, told my wife to pour her Starbucks coffee into one of his cups. She and his staff were embarrassed by this request but they gave her a cup and she did just that. I told him that we were loyal customers. My wife liked a particular coffee at Starbucks for this morning. He told me that he was the Owner of Metto, a small business Owner and that I could buy his coffee or go and buy pastries at Starbucks. I told him that I would do just that and that we would never be back. Maybe he was in a bad mood, maybe he likes to bully girls and women but I just do not accept that attitude. Be careful visiting Metto. The Owner is on some kind of macho trip. He insulted his staff and my wife but I was not going to be berated by him.
I would understand his policy except we spend so much there every week while the Owners buddies sit for hours outside taking up a large table drinking one coffee.
So three days after I wrote this review the Owner responds to say that his policy is that only his products sold at Metto are to be consumed on site. Keep in mind that he did not know if we were buying pastries to take with us or to consume on site. No questions were asked, just get out unless you buy our coffee with your pastries. No apology for his bully action. Keep in mind we have been there approx. 200 to 250 times. I will never visit Metto again.

I wish I could give Metto more than 5 stars. This place is Amazing!!! I was already a regular but they went above and beyond to help me get my daily breakfast safely during the pandemic. The staff are exceptional and the food is absolutely delicious. Go check them out. You won't regret it.

The drive thru is a great option with COVID and if you just cannot or do not want to get out of your car. I went there for coffee and a breakfast sandwich, which were good, but am obsessed with them because of their chocolate chip cookies. I have never had more wonderful cookies from a coffee shop. They are airy but also soft and rich. Cannot recommend enough.

Being transplanted from the Midwest, I really missed my small, local coffee shop that was cozy, energetic, and unique. While there are many great, chic coffee houses in the area, I have found them very cold and uncomfortable. I go to Metto when I need to relax and feel comfortable while reading my book or getting work done on my laptop. The coffee is good and the bake case is filled with freshly-baked goodies. I definitely recommend.

We are so lucky to have metto in our community!! I'm a local born and raised I was even a tour guide for 15 years so I know the area very well and I really got to tell you that this is the place to go!! The ownership and staff are very friendly and professional, the food and the coffee is fantastic!! They'll make it anyway you want have a full range of options on their menu much more than any competitor and they aren't expensive either!! I've been a fan of metto for years and I regularly go once a week or every other week and I'm always satisfied with my experience!! They have really neat programs too like punch card programs for free coffee and they do a lot of community outreach as a local business in the area! Know that you are so appreciated and loved metto! Great job really, we are very proud of you in the community you've been an outstanding business and have kept people working and healthy! This is a really great example of how a wonderful owner great management and well-trained staff make for a delightful business!! Five stars all the way!!!

This cafe has a lot of cute, small-town charm which is hard to find in Charleston. It's cheery clementine paint combined with friendly staff make for a cozy and warm atmosphere. When I think of coffee shop, I think of the feel of this shop. A smaller, non-chain, original-recipe, customer-comes-first shop which is a refreshing and delightful surprise to find amongst big chain fast-food tasteless stores in the area. We sat outside, where the deck is built around a wonderful huge old live oak. This atmosphere, as I said before is a rare find here and it reminds me of my coffeeshop back home. Best and most importantly for me, they are allergy-friendly. For once, the staff didn't look confused and didn't give me a blank stare when I ask them if the lattes could be made dairy-free and if they were naturally gluten-free. They even had a vegan protein shake available! And vegan chocolate to make dairy-free mocha lattes! Also, one of the rare coffee shops using almond milk (which is better for women than drinking large amounts of soy). Very progressive thinking, which is a breath of fresh air. Love it and will be back!

Not bad, no dark roast. I'm easy, all I want is a large dark roast, but had to settle for medium, and not a great medium. Too acidic. The three stars are for the atmosphere and the service.

Amazing experience! They have an awesome selection of Muffins. Their tea selection is pretty good and I recommend their tea lattes. I'm no a big coffee drinker but I hear good things. They have gluten free options available!!!

The owners of this quaint shop serves us the cutest drinks for coffee lovers and sweets for the sweet patrons of the community. They were generously accommodating to my request to use their outside space for a photoshoot after hours. Enjoy the outside area or chill inside.
