My daughter and I stopped here for lunch at The Cottage while in Bluffton SC. We were promptly seated by the hostess at a nice table on the patio.
Our server was personable. After going over the menu and the specials, we decided to split the pimento shrimp and grits/$17.95 and one of the specials; a salad which consisted of a base of some kind of slaw and mixed greens, tossed in a chili line vinaigrette, topped with shrimp, salmon, avocado, edamame, blackberries, goat cheese and tomatoes/$21.95. The shrimp and grits were supposed to come with a side salad but since we had ordered the special, a salad, we substituted the side salad for watermelon.
We washed everything down with a couple of beers (Golden Road Mango Cart). The beer was super cold and complimented the meal.
The food was served on paper plates and we ate it with plastic ware, which surprised me a little… this place was not inexpensive and somehow this cheapened the experience.
The meal was very tasty. The grits were some of the creamiest I have ever had. I would have liked to see a few more shrimp (there were about 6 medium), but the few that were in the dish were properly cooked (tender and juicy).
The salad was amazing! Very pricey for a salad, but the flavor combination was superb.
The portions were adequate, and we left feeling full. Lunch ran about $70 (with tip).

I have been in The Cottage 20 times before, but the quality of food has declined tremendously. My favorite fish tacos has changed. The fish or lobster is being fried!! Overall food quality is very sloppy, when you go to the bathroom you can see the inside of the kitchen. It doesn’t look hygienic at all. Shame that a good place can go wrong so quickly.

Food was fabulous! We ordered the Jambalaya and the crab And seafood pie ( called something else). Both dishes were delicious. The Cottage is famous for their deserts so we split a piece of the Coconut Cottage cake. Worth the calories but too big - must share. One disappointment was that the beverages were served in styrofoam. I really prefer a mug for my coffee. Service was prompt, prices a bit high but experience was good.

Worst service, if I could give 0 stars I would, the shrimp was already eatn off the salad and there was nothing but tails. Burger was also rare when we specifically asked for well done. Would never come back. Waiter also had an attitude problem when we asked for simple stuff

A nice little spot, cozy and great service, felt welcomed from the second you sit down, food was exceptional, and even had the friendly cat to keep you company.

visiting bluffton for my first time. I stopped at the Cottage for breakfast last Friday , but was told I missed the breakfast by 20 mins.. I chose the prime time cheese burger - it may have been the best cheeseburger I have ever had. the quality of the meat , the taste, the presentation , was super. the waiter was very busy but still attentive to his tables. the eatery itself was like an art piece, very interesting experience. - if / when I make it back to bluffton , I will do the breakfast , which is supposed to be fabulous. ~ JDS/CT. .MAY 2023

We love this restaurant. This is where we go for our birthday lunches and our dog is permitted on the porch too. We love their food and the deserts are to die for!!! Coconut cake is our favorite.

A little pricy for brunch but portion was good. Loved the potatoes! I just wish the fruits were sweeter. The honeydew melon was tough to chew and was bland. I ordered the crab cake benedict. I liked the crab cake but not a big fan of the poached eggs.
The place was cozy and the view was beautiful. It's a fairly good breakfast place.

We were very disappointed in our lunch and service at this restaurant! We kindly reminded our waiter numerous times that we had not received my husband's cocktail. ( his meal had already arrived) I ordered the Tomato Pie and received the Fried Green Tomatoes! My husband's panini was a Bacon BLT with Fried Green tomatoes. The sandwich was tasteless and only consisted of bacon bits with fried tomatoes!
Sorry to say, we will not be returning!

The experience from hostess to meal was awful. The hostess was very rude and should probably be back of the house. The restaurant itself is not clean and just generally underwhelming. The food was exceptionally bad given the price. I had a $21 tomato pie…disgusting. It was like bisquick mixed with tomatoes and cheese baked in a bowl. Just gross, unrefined and wayyyyyy overpriced.
I’d not visit again even if I were starving, you’d be better off going to Publix.
