Blackstone's Café

My fiancé and I really wanted to try this eatery but unfortunately had a bad experience before we got the chance. I walked over 10 mins in 90 degree weather to get to go sandwiches for us as he had surgery yesterday and couldn’t walk. I got there at 1:45 and was turned away even though closing is 2pm. I was told the grill was shut down and was recommended another place to eat. The sandwiches we both wanted were ‘cold’ sandwiches, no grill required, which the gentleman that greeted me would’ve known if he’d just asked. I asked him why the closing time was 2pm if they close early and he said they were a new eatery..which to me didn’t make sense as that is even more of a reason to make a good impression. The gentleman was polite but sadly this new cafe lost potential customers before we could even try it.

**The accusatory, rude, apathetic response I received from the owner to this review in addition to it containing untruths is even more of a reason to not go here. It is advertised to close at 2pm and I was there at 1:45 to get cold to-go sandwiches, no "seating" required and was immediately turned away. I have not provided inaccurate or untruthful information, only the facts and quite frankly am pretty offended the owner responded the way he/she did. I'm so glad I supported a different business that day and I recommend others do the same.

First time here and it was so good! Definitely will go back.

Great staff, food, atmosphere. Cajun shrimp grits were perfectly made, I’m a Cajun! the wait is worth it. local owner overseas everything. Buy a pastry at the counter on your way out, also delicious🤩

Had high expectations and was pretty disappointed. It wasn't bad, it was just eh. Eggs cooked properly, "home fries" were actually hash browns and not very much. Toast comes dry and you have to butter it with hard butter. Sausage patties were good. Corned beef hash order was also very small. Our server was nice, everyone was friendly and they were enforcing masks, which was great to see. 3 stars for the food, 4 for the people.

Truly friendly service with a varied menu. Good pecan pancakes, grits and eggs dishes. Reasonable prices and reasonable prices. Hot, delicious coffee. Clean store with a 8am rousing Pledge of Allegiance ritual dedicated to service persons and the American flag. Inspirational!

Walking into Blackstone's Cafe you get the feeling the food must be good! This old school hole-in-the-wall spot has the look of a diner that must survive on the great food and service... It's just too bad that wasn't the case. The service was great. Very friendly people serving very sad food. I chose the the "Home made corn beef hash"... It must have been home made straight out of a can, an old can from the very back shelf of a turn if the century bomb shelter. Yuk to say the least. Got a "side of hash browns" that made the old gum stuck to the floor look appetizing. If the staff wasn't so nice they would have gotten an ear full... But I felt sorry for them.

Great breakfast place. All our dishes was delicious. The wait to be seated was not long. Our waitress was attentive, polite and friendly. Will come back when in the area

Sam was a SUPERB waitress....so bad 1st visit I had to go back next day....lol

Went here with some friends and had a great experience. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. All of the food was great and cooked correctly. I got French toast and bacon. My friends got grits, eggs, and biscuits. We all agreed that the food and the sweet tea was delicious. Our server was very nice and helpful. We had a great time and I would lady go back and I would highly recommend this place.
