The New Glarus Bakery has cases full of beautifully baked items such as bars, cookies, breads and doughnuts. I purchased a lovely looking piece of layer cake and two different types of cookies. After tasting all of these items I am guessing that they were all made with mostly shortening as the fat. The beautiful frosting on the cake had zero butter/rich flavor. . The cake itself tasted great as it was very moist and had a subtle flavor. What a waste, nice cake with bland, flavorless frosting. One of the cookies had a lemon filling which tasted somewhat lemony. The cookie itself tasted very bland and had no rich flavor. The other cookie was flat with no filling. It had zero richness and was flavorless. The bottom line: if you want bakery items that are not baked with much (if any) butter then this bakery is for you. Even though the staff was awesomely pleasant and the bakery cases were a treat for the eye I will probably not come back as I was underwhelmed with purchases.
The New Glarus Stollen is AMAZING! I just devoured a third of that bad boy. It's sinful. Hands down...the best Stolen I've ever had...period. I have a whole new perspective on New Glarus-style Stolen.

Great selection of bakery items and the raspberry spritz cookies have to be my favorite.
I had such an amazing experience visiting here! I am spending the week working remotely in New Glarus and this was a perfect little spot to stop for coffee and some goodies before work. All of the baked goods I sampled were phenomenal and the gentleman who assisted me was helpful and kind!

Make sure you get something that was baked that day. The items in the refrigerated case have been frozen and then brought back to a refrigerated temperature and are awful!

Nice small bakery with so many delicious treats. Tried some cookies and a bit of chocolate. Totally recommend!

People are nice, small assortment of baked goods. Not a lot of bread on the shelves. Prices are decent.
There is a reason this place is one of the oldest bakeries. Amazing items, fantastic custom cakes, and helpful staff. I haven't tried their coffee yet, but plan to on my next visit.
DELICIOUS 😋 The rhubarb bar was absolutely amazing. I wanted to try so much more especially their cheesecakes. Their mocha's we're delicious and not overly sweet. Great staff as well.
This is The Bakery for all if SW WI. Don't miss out. You won't be disappointed!
Fabulous! One of the best bakeries I have ever been too
So many sweets to choose from. I wanted 1 of everything. The donuts were OK, the sandlissen were amazing. The apricot, lemon and raspberry pockets are great on their own as well as with coffee/tea.
