Wedneday night is trivia night! Love the mezcal drinks and the chili
Great food, great atmosphere ( light airy, plenty of space, clean and interesting) probably the best tasting vegan option in La Crosse
Very excited to visit the Root Note again. The sandwich was delicious, and the service was awesome.
I was in town for my husband’s conference and went to the Root Note on our first full day in La Crosse so that I could get some coffee and work. I ended up coming back the next 2 days and spending most of the day there working because I loved it so much. Chill atmosphere, good food and coffee, friendly staff, and plenty of outlets along the bar to plug your laptop into.
We love the Root Note! Great food, coffee, beer selection. They are very friendly and accommodating with our toddler. One of our favorite places to go out in La Crosse, highly recommend!
If you're looking for a different experience try this place. You order at the front counter, pick your food up once they call your number and then you clean up after yourself by putting your dishes in their dirty dish bin. The atmosphere is great. The food was very tasty!
Their herbal tea was wonderful! Stayed for hours chatting with my good friend and had a lovely time. It was a slow night which I liked because I'm an introvert but the vibe is nice as well!
Great spot to grab a healthy bite to eat.
Today stopped in for after-work treat, because every trip to The Root Note is always a treat. The raspberry pie bar was delicious, with shortbread crust and tart-sweet filling and crunchy topping. The vanilla iced americano was lovely. But by far the best was the curry lentil soup. Fyll of delicious tender veggies and bursting with some if the best flavor of any soup I've ever put in my mout. I bought the cup but almost wished I had gotten the bowl (but was nicely full with the cup). Such a perfect treat after a long workday. Thank you Root Note staff and chefs! Another perfect visit.
Love this place, however, they have eliminated my granddaughter's favorite and were unwilling to accommodate a simple request for a plain crepe with butter and sugar. Also, no more whipped cream! These seem like simple things to have available so I'm puzzled and frustrated as we adults love to eat and drink at Root Note, but will have a harder time doing so without the things my granddaughter enjoys.
The food and drinks were spot on, would definitely be a regular if I lived in the area. Syrup was house made, and there were gluten-free and vegan options available. The staff was gracious and helpful with questions and recommendations (they even switched the esspeso in a drink, so the flavor profile would match my meal better!) The espresso and tonics were light and refreshing; I wish more shops offered this as an option.
My wife and I about given up on where to go for outstanding coffee. We were pleasantly surprised when we came to try The Root Note. The care and attention from the atmosphere to the flavors. I had a Breve and I can confidently say my favorite coffee in all the Coulee Region. Also their crepes are something that I would expect to come out of a Top Chefs kitchen. Thank you to all the staff for a great coffee date with my wife.
Nothing beats a coffee shop breakfast that's made from scratch and served in a real mug. Love the ambiance
My oh fudge latte was delicious. I also had a biscuit sandwich which was probably the best sandwich I've had in years. So delicious.
Place is very open for fast eats and on days for stage events. My last visit evolved some mis-communication with the person at the register about my order. Waited several minutes for an order that was never placed. They offered to make my order but it was already too late to wait. Still ticked about that day. Will come back another time. They only serve one size for to go coffee, 12 Oz.
The location is great right off the river near the park. The food is decent and prepared quickly. I'm not a fan of self-serve. The roasted bean juice is the best part. Not a big fan of the interior change, the past setup had a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Though I like the hosted local art.
I’ve recently been able to finally visit the Root Note after the remodel and I was pleasantly surprised! I loved it before, and I still love it now! Their apple cider is great and I love their grilled cheese sandwich. I would highly recommend them and I’ll definitely be visiting more often.
Limited food choices but it was good, though a bit slow for crepes. Nice space.
Delicious coffee in a fun environment
I absolutely love the root note! Great service, great food, and of course... great coffee!
