Overall, a very nice experience, and we will be back. Thank you for a fine dinner and a pleasant evening. A couple points, though, offered in a friendly, respectful manner: The tap water should have ice in it (at least in the pitcher). The wine glasses and water glasses should not be the same design. The glasses were not spotless, although I may be incorrect on this because of the dim lighting. The old-fashioned should have been in an old-fashioned glass, and should have filled the glass, not 60% full for $15! The ahi-tuna salad was good, but could have used more of everything, especially the ahi tuna, for $33. Our other entrees were a bit on the small side as well, but well prepared. I presume the hard pea items in the chicken dish are part of the recipe, but quite hard to bite down on. You ran out of bread, which was a shame because it was very good. The wait for the entrees to arrive after our soup was finished was too long, about 35 minutes. Michael was excellent.

Really good French cuisine. Service is fantastic. The whole restaurant is very cozy and romantic. We ate on the porch, which was really nice.

My husband and I visited this place for our 1 year marriage anniversary and we traveled 3+ hrs to get there. If this place is what fine dining is defined as, I am sold. The interior of the restaurant was tastefully decorated, and had an ambiance of home. We did not partake in any alcoholic beverages but the wine list was extensive. We did however try the faux jito which was better than any ETOH I've ever had. The food was exquisite, and unique. Every bite was bursting with flavor and moist. Even the fries (frites) had a unique flavor. We were sad to see every portion end. I savored every dish we had down to the bread. I had the steak and frites. The sauce over the steak was heavenly, I've never tasted anything like it. Our server was attentive and efficient was definitely more educated than my husband and I on manners and tableware. He brought our desserts out with candles for celebration which was a nice personal touch to the meal. Order the Mousse au chocolat for dessert, it was divine. The prices are somewhat expensive but worth every penny. I have took all four of my household to a steakhouse and paid more money for way less quality in the past. I am already dreaming of when we can go back.

Best part about the meal was our British waiter, although he got busy and forgot my dessert. But that's forgivable. Our meals were okay but not worth making this our reason to visit Lewisburg - which it was. We would have been happier at Food and Friends.

Excellent, memorable food in a welcoming atmosphere. We brought our 7 year old (well behaved) and we appreciate how she was welcomed as a guest like the rest of us. Loved the duck confit, crème brûlée was amazing.

My wife and I met my sister and her husband in Lewisburg for my 50th birthday, and we had many delicious meals in town, including our brunch this morning at The French Goat. We had reservations at 11:30, but my sister hates to be late, so we arrived 15 minutes early. We were seated, and served water right away, with no complaint. We tend to “graze” a bit, and enjoy spending time together, so we were there for about 3 hours (which admittedly is less than perfect form on our part), but we were kindly served and never made to feel that we were overstaying our reservation. Service was prompt, professional, and very helpful. I’m sorry that I didn’t catch our waitress’ name, because she was excellent. As for the food, everything we had, which among the four of us was nearly everything on the menu, was excellent. I had a half dozen oysters, a cup of wild mushroom bisque, had an escargot from my sister’s order, and tried one of my wife’s truffle frites. All excellent. I had the Eggs Benedict as my entree, and a fantastic blood orange sorbet for dessert. We even got a piece of Basque cheesecake to go to share this evening. Everything was fantastic. As for price, it’s not “free”, but it shouldn’t be. All local and/or very high quality ingredients with excellent preparation and presentation. We don’t eat like this every day, but for a nice occasion, the price is commensurate with the quality. Overall, I don’t have anything bad to say. It was an excellent place to celebrate a personal milestone event, and I’ll be sure to be back on a future trip to Lewisburg.

This was an experience that will stand out my my memory for quite some time. To summarize: the dishes were well composed with ingredients of exceptional quality and prepared with flawless technique. The fois gras was prepared lightly seared and in a way that I'd never experienced before. It was both incredibly rich and decadent while also feeling balanced and not overly heavy. The mushroom bisque (with local mushrooms) was the best that I've ever had. I could probably eat it everyday for the rest of my life and die a very happy death. The duck confi was also a "best ever" and perfectly golden crisp on the outside while all the meat was still meltingly tender and juicy. Even the cocktails managed to be both innovative, yet still connected to their classic roots....and both delicious and perfectly executed. The staff was knowledge and personable with made the experience approachable and comfortable without being over-bearing or intimidating. Turely perfect meals are an uncommon gift and I am grateful for this one.

Delicious! I had trouble picking between at least 5 entrées because they all sounded amazing. Our server was polite, helpful, and funny. He even accommodated my 2 children, ages 1 & 3, who entered crying from hunger, by patiently waiting while I chose food items for them. Then he made sure their entrée was prepared and delivered quickly. Delightful atmosphere and good wines too. I would eat here again and recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I are from Savannah, GA which is considered by many as one of the food capitols of the south. We are used to great food and I’ll say that The French Goat can compete with any top restaurant in Savannah. I had the halibut special and she had the duck, and both dishes made us pause and close our eyes upon taking the first bite. Everything we ate here was prepared perfectly and the service was top notch! The owner of the restaurant was up front hosting and was very delightful. On our next trip to Lewisburg, we will definitely be making more than one reservation.
