The food and drinks are great, but it was weird that all cups, plates, sauces, and utensils were single use.
By far one nice and neat place to visit. The vibes are just right and the drinks are just on point. Good place to come and vibe and have a good time. Enjoyed my food and drinks with friends. Friendly and great service all around. Dog friendly.
I stopped for Saturday brunch. I like their self-serve process where you can place the order from the table. It wasn't too busy and service was pretty fast. I took the Cuban roasted pork sandwich which was okay. My wife got the house waffle which was a bit bland. Also, the waffle did not have any crunch in them. It looked a bit flat and soggy. I have had their guacamole toast before which I liked but this time it was okay overall.
This place has transformed from a tiny delicious secret to an enormous outdoor area. Thankfully, the food is still amazing. I miss stopping by on my walk to work.
Fully disposable plates/cups/utensils in the year of our lord 2023, in Seattle?! Kind of shocking to say the least… servers were sweet but the wastefulness was unsettling
Photo of my half eaten waffle because the food was so good I was excited for brunch and forgot to take pictures… we love their online ordering and payment system that makes it easy to split bills, the service is minimal but friendly, and everything about this place is super efficient (paper cups and plates, QR code ordering + payment, etc.). The space is neat with a cool outdoor patio space, and a quaint upstairs. We’ve been here three times for weekend brunches and haven’t ever had to wait for a table. The food is good! The Citizen Waffle has been my favourite so far, but all the savoury waffles have been pretty similar. My table also ordered the breakfast sandwich and the Cuban sandwich and those were great too. It’s too bad the sandwiches come with chips instead of fries — I think that would elevate the experience. While the food is reasonably priced for brunch, they include an automatic 20% tip which drives up the cost (which is strange because the only service is them bringing the food to your table).
Their coffee and breakfast tacos are great. And the Nutella waffle is bomb!!
It is an awesome place to hangout with your friends either for a coffee, drink (summer) or even for light brunch. There were many spots like 2 seater covered from rain. That made me realize it offers a really cozy place and it is a really good place for a simple coffee date 😉 It closes at 2pm unfortunately (at least in winter).
Food was fast and reasonably tasty. Didn't like that the ketchup and hot sauce came in those little plastic single use servings. Especially didn't like there's both a non-optional 20% gratuity AND an optional tip. I ended up accidentally tipping 40% because I added a 20% tip not realizing the gratuity was already added. Not cool to trick your customers for not reading the fine print folks.
Come on guys, let's be honest. All foods here should be cost less than $5. Even my dog can make a better waffle than here.
For what it is, a great breakfast stop for us. Easy ordering via Toast, good options on menu, and allergen friendly. I enjoyed the salsa verde I added to the farmer's breakfast, and the andouille sausage was awesome! Drip coffee is great, and latte with coconut milk wasn't overly sweet. At 9AM on a Saturday in February, there was no wait for a table, and only a few others here (but more outside, and lots of foot traffic for coffee). One negative in our opinion is the compostable plates (yay) paired with plastic utensils in plastic bags at each table. Either fully commit to compostable utensils or go reusable.
Used to my my go-to place for brunch. the food quality and taste has gone down severely. the cost has increased. no service and they serve in paper plates. what are you charging so much for? a 20% gratuity is also added. have stopped come here. place now has only vibes nothing else . so sad :(
Food was pretty good. Not a fan of all the paper and plastic instead of real dishware when I pay good money to go out and eat. Also, a 20% service charge but no table service? Just put that in the prices then please.
Original Review: This is my favorite breakfast spot. Nothing on the menu has ever disappointed. Edit: this used to be our favorite place to eat but I haven’t been back in a year b/c they switched to self service and disposable plates and cups. Nothing tastes good on a paper plate let alone eggs that soak into it. I’m so disappointed I changed my rating from 5 to 2 stars. So sad to see this go from a cute brunch spot to feeling like a college bar who tries to do brunch.
Went for brunch to Citizen Cafe. The place is huge so had plenty of options to sit around. The food was nice and had quite a few vegetarian options as well. Coffee was great. The restaurant is still serving in disposable silverware with zero interaction with the server so that was the part I hoped was different. Overall good experience.
Cute little cafe shop. I LOVED it so much! Food was delicious and had the best staff. I would come back again!
20 percent upcharge on top of total bill. Ridiculous. Cashier said other places are charging as well. However, we went to a nearby Greek restaurant and they did not charge. Food ok, drip coffee ok.
So glad we stumbled upon this place! Cool vibe, it was nice to sit outside watch the clouds pat a couple friendly pups and enjoy amazing food. Our food was delivered incredibly fast by wonderful friendly server(s). Will absolutely be coming back.
Referred by StayPineapple The Maxwell Hotel. Short, easy walk. Got breakfast to go for our crew back at the hotel. Good food, fast service, everything you could ask for in a cute little Seattle gem.
We were visiting our daughter at college and needed a breakfast place with good food that would accommodate our dog. The outdoor seating area is spacious and there is plenty of room to spread out and was perfect for our dog. The vibes of the place were great. When our food arrived it was ice cold. Cold eggs and toast? The low marks come down to the cold food we were served and the wasteful plastic ware. At least offer compostable utensils. The coffee was decent.
