First-time customer. The location is good due to being by a main road. Love the concept of the coziness of it being in a "home" type setting. These two things could make this a jem in the northern neck, but the food.... I really wanted a good gormet coffee and asked the waitress what a popular coffee or specialty was that she would recommend. She looked like a deer in headlights, so I ordered a mocha cappuccino, bacon, and blueberry pancakes. The bacon was so overcooked and hard it was (no kidding), bacon jerky. The pancakes were extremely dry, and apparently, they just threw blueberries into normal batter right in the center. It was a chunck of what I believe was frozen blueberries. They were also barely warm. The coffee was the biggest disappointment. First, it took over 20 minutes. My husband drank his entire regular coffee before mine arrived. There wasn't even a hint of mocha. It tasted like maxwell house with ALOT OF MILK topped with froth and lukewarm. I truly hope this review reaches them and they fire the current ook who is doing them no favors judging by the reviews. If they get an experienced cook, revamp the menu, and train the wait staff on the menu, I believe they have potential.

We drive through Tappahannock anytime we head to Norfolk. I had been wanting to stop, but weekends are usually super busy. Stopped today, a Wednesday and enjoyed a delicious brunch and tasty caramel Tappacinno. Quaint little house, turned bistro. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

We have been in Java Jacks a few times for breakfast and we really like it. The food comes out hot and is very tasty. They are busy on the weekends so service might be a little slow, but it's worth the wait. The restaurant is an old 1910 house that is very charming. I would recommend.

We stop here every time we're in Rappahannock. A one of a kind gem. I appreciate that they have healthy alternatives to waffle fries. If you want waffle fries that's available too.

We ate here for the first time yesterday. My first time. It was busy and our waitress had lots of hungries to take care of but she was very pleasant, helpful, and a sweetheart. I had the create your omelette which was very good. The diced onion and potatoes hit the spot. The jacks were delicious. My better half had the Chesapeake which was very good. They also come with fresh diced fruit. The bottomless coffee was excellent. They have a good variety of things on the menu to explore and the food is made with love. It was a very cute little place and we will certainly return here. UPDATE: I have now eaten here five times. I still love this place. The food is fantastic. The vibe is great in this quaint little place. The coffee is bottomless and good when you can get it. I’ve deducted one star from the original review and would consider another one. Don’t come here in a hurry if you’re eating there. I don’t mind this though. What I found that bothers me is how slow and forgetful two of the waitresses are. You can ask for more coffee or something but don’t hold your breath. This has happened every time. I just thought they were just busy the first time. I’m a very patient individual but don’t offer bottomless coffee if you won’t provide it. Seems like 2 small cups is the best they can do.

Very good omelets. Very good customer service. No issues whatsoever, and they have cute branded clothes for sale as well.

We always enjoy breakfast at Java Jack's and today was no exception! Good food, good service and a fun vibe. Try the biscuits and sausage gravy - it does not disappoint!

Waited an hour for a celebration lunch with my son today. After the hour, our waitress came out to inform us that they were out of burger and would we like to select something else. Really? After an hour wait???? Unacceptable!!! To top that off, the couple who was sat right before us was asking for to go boxes. I used to enjoy eating here, but this will be the last. Get it together,Java Jacks!!!

The croissant sandwich tasted like it was jimmy deans and the hash browns weren't cooked all the way through.

The food was made to order- and absolutely delicious! It was Sunday and they were busy-but my friend and I didn’t mind waiting. Their signature “Jacks” were amazing. Great little local owned business.

My first visit was great! Service was spectacular, the potatoes were inedible, my omelet was good, & I will return! Those jacks, OMG!

Bad experience!!! Went here for brunch a second time because the food & service was great the first time. We waited 45 minutes for our table, no big deal, they were busy. We sat and ordered our food and coffee flight. Coffee flight was okay, the flavors were not as good as the last time, we couldn’t even drink the strawberry & cream because it tasted so bad. We waited 40 minutes and no food meanwhile we watched a waitress eating with one of the patrons, standing by there table and snacking off their food & talking. We were an hour in with no food or the appetizer we ordered. Didn’t see our waitress for the last 30 minutes of being there so at that point we just got up to leave after waiting so long. Paid $13 for the flight, not worth it on the weekends. Maybe better during the weeks but I went up to To Do Cafe and had quick service & good food.

Had a very good lunch here with family. A lot of options for everyone. Very good food and great atmosphere. Coffee is worth the stop alone.
