Nice place. Good atmosphere for having a coffee and/or a bite to eat. It seems very popular so we had to wait about 30 minutes for our food. (The coffee wait was only a couple minutes) the food was good and the price was reasonable. I would eat here again or come back for coffee.

I always enjoyed coming to Cafe Stella for a hot double mocha, I would give the coffee alone a 5-star rating. However, I wanted to come by today with my boyfriend and my dog to enjoy my birthday at my favorite coffee shop, although, today’s experience was mediocre to say the very least. The barista (did not get her name, however was white complected with short dark brown hair) working spoke rudely and loudly in front of the huge line in front of us as well as the busy restaurant to tell us that dogs weren’t allowed inside. Which we understand completely, but from a customer’s perspective, the tone and approach could have been so much better. We had just walked in and wanted to see the menu to figure out what we wanted before going outside. The same barista then proceeded to speak to three young women standing behind me to tell them that they needed to leave because they had brought Starbucks into the cafe. Again, perspective of a customer, that behavior does not depict a cafe that is welcoming and inviting to paying customers. The experience gets worse. We wait for our food for over 40 minutes just for the order to be wrong. My boyfriend was already upset at this point because of how poorly the barista treated us, he then spoke to the cashier (stated he had only been there for a month) to get the matter addressed. After he had come back to the table with his fixed order, the same rude barista came to our table to tell my boyfriend to leave because he had “cursed” and was “aggressive” at her staff, which he was NOT. The conversation between her and I included a lot of hearsay on their end. After I explained how upset we were from how she spoke to us in the beginning, to the wait for the food AND for the order to be wrong, there was not a single empathic response. The whole situation was handled poorly and I hope that management sees this review to help improve the way the staff speaks to prospective and returning customers. I really enjoyed the coffee and the environ

Stopped at Stella's for coffee and a couple dishes for a later breakfast. We ordered the breakfast skillet, breakfast burrito, and two Buttermilk waffle dishes. All were take out. To start with, the food took an awfully long time to be made for the amount of food we received (rather small portions). After opening our orders, we discovered that the waffles were missing the cinnamon espresso butter (which is why we ordered the waffles), the skillet was missing bacon, and the burrito was missing chorizo. Even though the coffee was good, and the waffle batter used was rather tasty, we were rather disappointed in our meal and were expecting more/our orders to be complete. Giving two stars for there were a couple good things, but this was not a satisfactory experience.

The atmosphere is cute, the coffee is alright and the general staff is super nice but the manager, some tall guy i don't know if he is also the owner- is always sooooo rude! We used to go to this cafe all the time but we've seen him be extremely rude, sarcastic and dismissive with the employees and he has been a total a-hole to customers as well. He's clearly someone who hates his life and is taking it out on the people around him. There are other better, nicer, and less expensive coffee shops around Ghent that are way more worth it and nobody there treats you like garbage.

Great atmosphere and drinks were good. The staff member who took our order was so friendly. Lately it seems like that’s lacking in service jobs. It’s refreshing to find a coffee shop other then Starbucks that stays open late. I’m looking forward to returning.

Online it says they open at 6:30am, I tired to go at 7am but the door was locked. I called to clarify the hours thinking I must have read them wrong, and they were super rude to me on the phone - I usually love this place and just suggested an edit on Google maps for the hours. Hopefully I’ll be able to get here during open hours again soon! 🥲

I've been coming here for at least two years now and it's a great community of good folk and welcoming individuals. It's a sight for sore eyes amidst these bars and other hangout lounge spots.

I love this place. It’s my neighborhood favorite and I eat here at least once a week and the food, service and atmosphere are amazing, but for heaven’s sake the portion sizes please make them larger and just charge a bit more.

My friend took me here for the first time today and it was the WORST. Food is good and the coffee is amazing but the Owner is RUDE! My friend and I were in line waiting for our food to be ordered and the Owner was belittling his coworker in front of us and degrading her. The coworker was the sweetest one in the store! She was kind and lovely but the way the Owner treated her was nonsense. When I got my food I asked for more maple syrup and he said “have you never been here before” which I haven’t but he walked away and didn’t get me more maple syrup for my French toast. The owner shouldn’t have been rude to me since I asked politely for more syrup since they are small portions of syrup. Also there was this other customer that was asking for a free cup of water and the Owner said it’s only for the “paying customers.” The Owner is the reason why I’m not coming back! Don’t recommend.

Few eating establishments in the area provide the following: affordability, delectability, high optionality, tranquility, cleanliness, and a charming atmosphere. Café Stella bears all of this, and I find that I am frequenting it more often: my wallet doesn't suffer, my ears aren't strained from loud or obnoxious music (on the contrary, there is a grand piano that hosts local pianists), I can chat and hear myself think, and, if you are looking to get some work done, this is the place to do it outside of the usual academia-type institutions.

Cute and quirky warehouse style cafe/restaurant with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Since it's 'order at the counter style' the line can get outrageous on Sundays/peak hours - definitely worth it as a brunch spot but if you're looking for a nice, quiet place to get a coffee with a friend maybe try for a weekday. I would call the Sunday at 11am atmosphere here as 'gently controlled chaos', but in a good way.

Great atmosphere and even better coffee. The staff was great and the owner/roaster even let me try some of his more rare beans. Plenty of places to sit too. Highly recommend!

Food was good, service was good. Their menu had al decent amount of options to choose from, foods, teas, coffees and other beverages they craft. Would definitely visit them again and recommend this place for a stop.

The owner is RUDE! I’ve watched the owner be publicly rude to my friend recently. No one wants your free Wi-Fi. And to even insinuate that she was visibly upset or angry over some free Wi-Fi is LAUGHABLE! And before you say this is a “fake review” I’ve interacted with the same man….he is rude…..he is condescending and he is the reason I have never come back. And I suggest that anyone reading does not patronize this business as well! Someone should be able to set up their computer and THEN get in line to order. Especially frequent customers but someone as rude as him clearly doesn’t care about long standing costumer relationships.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. However, we will go with 1. As a Norfolk resident and someone who has patronized this business on several occasions, how I was treated today was inexcusable! I’m not one to leave reviews but he seems to be okay calling our encounter “fake news” as my community has come together to support me in sharing my experience. I have set up at this coffee shop many times before. I always order coffee, tea, or a pastry when I set up shop to do work there. Tonight in an effort to set up and get settled BEFORE ordering, I asked a gentleman (who I now know to be the owner) for the WiFi password. He very rudely expressed that it was for paying customers. I said okay I’m going to get something, I’ve been here before so just setting up(there was a line by the way). He then rudely reiterates the policy. I said “No worries, it’s cool,” as I proceed to get in the line. He says “I’m not worried I’m telling you the policy.” I expressed “I got it!” When I get to the register I ask the young lady was he the owner/manger she says yes. I was like “oh okay he was kinda rude, let me get myself together..” he then came over and starts speaking very rude to me and we exchange words back and forth and the final straw was when he told me basically that he was annoyed with me and to “go look in the mirror (pointed to a space in his establishment) so that way I can see what he sees (as to why he’s annoyed)!!!! I then grabbed my things and left! I’ve read a few reviews and it’s apparent that this man has some issues. Some of the same instances have been experienced with other women of color and that’s unfortunate. As a small business in our community, we should all be treated with dignity and respect. I’ve spent my money here before on several occasions but as of today….they will not see another dime. I would suggest if you’re a person of “color” it may not be in your best interest to visit this establishment.

The owner of this place treated my beautiful black sister. As if we are still in Jim Crow. Do yourself a favor and don’t go.

The owner couple can come across as being rude but their cappuccinos are undoubtedly the best. I moved to FL a while ago and I miss this place!

We initially went to Starbucks but it was closed for only drive thru, so we walked across the street to Cafe Stella and bought cafe mocha and latte. They are the best! I recommend. And creamer then Starbucks!

So many original food options for breakfast and lunch. The Shakshuka eggs are so good, also great vegetarian options, burritos, and sandwiches. Very good coffee too. There's a bar and some unique cocktails but we've only tried breakfast. Atmosphere is eclectic and tastefully appointed with lots of tables spaced for distancing.
