The food was great. But the wait for food is way too long. Me and my party waited over a hour for our food, and then on top of that some of us didn’t receive the sides that came with our meal. Also the waitress completely ignored us, not one update while we were waiting for our food. The price for the food is waaaaayy overpriced, it was $82 for the 4 of us to eat. Which is ridiculous for the basic breakfast items we got. It was only one cook, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully they’ll approve in the future
Went here and had to go back the same week!! French toast with bananas is the best on this earth and the waffles are crisp✨ amazing place 10/10
I was excited to try this spot as it looked so good on-line. I have not eaten the food as of yet because I am still waiting after an hour waiting. To be fair they did tell us that the wait would be at least 45 mins because they are short staffed. With that said I have good expectations that the food will be good. I would suggest to management that they stop taking to go orders when short staffed or at least make the dine-in customers a priority. We did see that a walk in customer with a big order came in and left before we got our food. Again we were dining in and had ordered over an hour prior. I wish the owner nothing but success in their future endeavors and with a few tweaks in the system I believe they will be successful. Don’t go if you have a full day planned. Go when you can sit and enjoy conversation with family and friends.
Great food, strong and tasty drinks, the chef is awesome. 10 outta 10 would definitely recommend for a Saturday or Sunday Morning Brunch date! Also, had vegan and vegetarian options.
This tiny cafe is truly a hidden gem! I just found out about it because I was looking for some place close to the Chrysler Museum that was open earlier than the museum's Zinnia Cafe. I ordered breakfast: scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast, and grits, and a coffee. Everything - EVERYTHING - was delicious! The potatoes were perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and served with sautéed onions and bell peppers, and the slices of bread were nice and thick. Looking at the menu, I didn't know what to expect, and the prices were just a little bit higher than I originally wanted to pay, but once I dug in, I knew it was worth every penny and very reasonably priced for the quality served. The location is also very clean and cozy. This is my new go-to since I'm at the museum on a regular basis. I can't wait to try everything else on the menu!
I visited today. The Milo Burger is awesome. Also, the staff are very friendly!
Cafe Milo is most definitely one of downtown Norfolk’s hidden secrets. The restaurant could probably seat around 25 people but that is what makes it so cozy. The waiter was helpful and kind. The chef was also great and those grits, whew… so yummy! My favorite was the banana foster French toast, they were TOP TIER! I definitely recommend.
Delicious restaurant with pretty decent prices. The interior is pretty small so it can get crowded/backed up pretty quickly. We thought this was more of a coffee shop from the name but it's definitely a food place.
The food was look good when it came out. The whipped coffee was good and really enjoy it. It a really nice and cozy place. The food was not hot enough for me and that weird cause I was the first customer. Overall I give them 4 stars and would try again.
Great local food. Amazing staff and very accomodating.
I had the pleasure to patron this establishment. I must say the food was an 8/10 my potatoes were a little under seasoned, no jelly for the toast and the Peach Bellini was hot. I suggest chilling the juices and champagne. I would definitely give them a 2nd chance, it is a cozy spot.
I've started eating here in January, I believe, thanks to a post on Instagram. Lovely "hole in a wall" with a very cozy, family-oriented atmosphere. At this point, they know my name and my order, whether I'm alone or with friends! I've even gone 3x this week alone lol, so that should tell you how often I make my way here. I love the intimacy of this space, and know that, eventually, the line will be out the door because of all that they have to offer at the great value that they give.
Easily my favorite breakfast spot. Decent portions great flavor!
Went in as a party of 6 and 5 out of the 6 of us us got food poisoning .update the owner reached out to me and he was super professional he apologized and was super eager to figure out the problem .
This was the perfect spot to have brunch while I visited with my Dad. The atmosphere was cozy and staff was so friendly and attentive. My Dad got the chicken and waffles and breakfast scamble. Everything came out hot and he was so pleased with the generous serving size. He actually couldn't eat it all. I equally loved my meal as well, especially their breakfast potatoes. When I finished my own I dipped into my Dad's plate. And to top it off our coffee cups were never empty. The service is exemplary, the restaurant is spotless and the staff is friendly and efficient. What more can you ask for? I'm definitely looking forward to making this a regular spot when I'm in Norfolk.
Cappuccino is absolutely amazing. I went there for the first time with my brother. The people were friendly. The design is bright but still warm. It was very calming and relaxing. The place is smaller then some but the coffee makes up for it! Great place for a meet up with friends for sure
Good stuff
Nice little place. Food was just okay though. They have a drink called a manmosa which I found creative in name. I've had something similar before but not with the name. They add Tito's to a mimosa. I got the Bananas Foster french toast. They look amazing online but disappointed in real life honestly. The bananas weren't fostered at all just cut and thrown on with a plate full of hot syrup. That was another issue to me but personal preference. To me they could have used candied walnuts, actually do a bananas foster and put the syrup on the side and had an amazing dish. The price was a little high as well. 3 eggs, 3 slices of bacon, the french toast and one manmosa was $44. I get everything is going up but still seems a little high. Server was great but the other lady at the counter was loud and complaining about staff and personal issues the whole time. Kind of takes away from the relaxing atmosphere. Has promise to be a nice niche kind of place if they fix a couple things.
On a rainy day outside of Cafe Milo - worth the trip for carry out! This place has the great ambience of small but not stuffy; cozy and cute. The staff is wonderful, very welcoming and very patient explaining what are on the menu. Ordered the banh mi sandwich, it was divine. Had a view to the cooking area, all seems so prepared with pride and confidence. Will definitely be back to try the other items!
I've literally had everything on the menu here, and I'd order every item all over again at least 100 more times. Cafe Milo is a welcoming and friendly establishment that is a perfect place to bring your most hungry and discerning friends and family to dine. Impressive service and a wonderful time here always.
