This is a must stop every time my wife and I are near Nellysford. There is a wonderful selection of cheeses and baked goods and other gourmet items, but we are usually there for the wine selection. Many (if not most) of the wines are organic/biodynamic, with a heavy emphasis on southern French regions and styles. I have found so many delightful bottles of wine here over the last 5 or 6 years, and everything has been priced very reasonably. In addition to the wine and gourmet items, I have dined here a handful of times, and the light fare was delicious and refreshing. Very much a hidden gem - there is no ostentatious exterior, just a simple, unassuming little house, quite aptly named Basic Necessities.

Delightful French Themed wine and cheese shop with a cozy dining area attached. Super friendly staff and regular patrons make this spot a delightful taste of France nestled in the middle of Nellysford.

Absolutely delicious! The staff was so friendly and accommodating of our needs as a group of 7. The wine was delicious and our meals were warm, flavorful and filling.

Quaint, charming spot in Afton with delicious, upscale food. Quirky backyard seating was perfect for a lunch with a bestie. Try the pear and blue cheese panini!

Poor service, staff kept complaining about being busy. Poorly maintained "garden dining area". Food was good, but over priced. $100 for two sandwichs and 3 glasses of wine.

It's a little expensive but the quality makes up for the cost in a big way.

Shabbyshiek location with a French theme leans a little more toward shabby than shiek.
