This restaurant came highly recommended. We walked in and noticed it was quite busy. Most of the seated customers had menus in front of them, waiting to order. We stood waiting for several minutes before we were acknowledged and spoken to. The host asked if we were on the waiting list. Nope
Overrated. People must think this place is good because it is one of the first spots hungry people see after a tiring day hiking the parks. It was not very busy when we got lunch, but it took forever to get our food. The food was decent, but nothing special. We both got very sick to our stomachs within 20 minutes of leaving, and we had a pretty miserable afternoon after eating here.
It was a busy day, but there were MULTIPLE servers out and about. We entered the restaurant and stood there ignored for 10+ minutes until we asked if we could sit and she finally told us no, wait to be seated. The food was good but nothing spectacular, the portions were small and it was very expensive. The servers carry their own cash around instead of being up front, but she was unable to take my bill and I had to go get my card which I was trying not to use that day. If they don't want to take cash or break bills they need to post about it. Some guests that sat next to us asked if/when we had ordered because they sat there 10-15+ minutes with not a single word from any of the servers. Paying also took far too long as they ran about doing everything else. It was so disorganized and the prices again were pretty outrageous for what you get, I will not be back anytime soon. I understand being busy, but they shouldn't have been so behind with so many servers compared to the number of tables, and just ignoring people without a word is NOT a good way to make an impression.
I called a month ago to get a reservation and was told they no longer take reservations. Tonight, I was turned away for dinner even though I showed up an hour before closing time, an incoherent hostess telling me I was supposed to have come in person earlier in the day to add myself to their wait list. Yes, you're supposed to check in sometime hours before you're ready to eat. In the end, I think we were lucky. The food looked heavy and greasy, and the place smelled awful. It was so crowded that they are gouging the customers who are lucky enough to get a table. Prices significantly higher than what I saw posted online. I hope they explain in their response how it's not their fault they can't handle summer traffic. The next time I'm in Kanab during the sleepy off season, I'll be sure not to give this place my business.
Servers and staff were super nice. They have a great selection of beer and a great view of you sit outside. The art gallery upstairs is nice. The food was ok. I got a ribeye and ordered it rare. It wasn't rare and was grainy. I would consider myself a good judge of steak since I have a commercial dry age refrigerator at home and hang primals all the time. My wife and daughter got chicken and it was pretty good. Loved the lemonades. Great flavor. Give it a try. I may have just hit it at an off time.
I had the opportunity to go here with my best friend, as were visiting Kanab to hike the wave, and both of us being foodies were incredibly impressed by the food. It was so delicious, the service was amazing, and we’ll definitely be going back before we head out. This is a must-visit restaurant!
There were 4 of us that had lunch there a few days ago. Each of us had something different to eat. Everything was excellent including the service. I would highly recommend Rocking V Cafe.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rocking V Cafe in Kanab, UT, and I can confidently say that it was one of the most exceptional dining experiences I've ever had. From start to finish, everything about this restaurant surpassed my expectations and left a lasting impression on me. First and foremost, the ambiance at Rocking V Cafe is simply charming. The rustic yet modern decor creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. The staff members are incredibly friendly, attentive, and passionate about their craft, adding to the overall delightful dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at Rocking V Cafe is a true masterpiece, offering a diverse selection of dishes that cater to various tastes and preferences. Whether you're a carnivore, vegetarian, or have dietary restrictions, you'll find something to suit your palate. The chefs at this establishment clearly take pride in their creations, as each dish is expertly crafted with the freshest ingredients and bursts with flavor. During my visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in their renowned steak, and it was nothing short of perfection. Cooked to my exact specifications and accompanied by mouthwatering sides, it was a culinary delight that left me craving more. Additionally, the vegetarian options were equally impressive, showcasing innovative combinations of flavors and textures that truly elevated the dining experience. One aspect that sets Rocking V Cafe apart is their commitment to supporting local farmers and sourcing ingredients sustainably. Not only does this highlight their dedication to quality, but it also contributes to the community and the environment—a philosophy that deserves recognition and support. Lastly, I cannot conclude this review without mentioning the exceptional dessert menu. The decadent treats offered at Rocking V Cafe are a dessert lover's dream come true. From rich chocolate creations to fruity delights, each dessert is a work of art th
They're not exaggerating when they say they have the best veggie burger in the country! Their key lime pie is delicious as well. Some of the friendliest service I've ever encountered at a restaurant too.
Hadn't eaten here in awhile, maybe a few months. Man this is not the same restaurant it was in 2022. I don't know if there is new management or a fresh kitchen crew or what, but the quality has severely declined. May 22, Party of 5, before the dinner rush. We walked in and there were only 3 other tables. It did fill up by the time we got our food though. We ordered a Happy Planet (vegan burger), the Tofu Curry plate, Lasagna, a garden salad, and... something else. The server brought us a REAL MEAT burger and waited until my wife took a bite from it to come back and tell us it was the wrong burger, and said so in an almost scolding tone - like it's her fault that the wrong burger is in front of her. Eating animals is a pretty big violation of her morals. No apology, no visit from the manager. The mashed potatoes looked and tasted like they were powdered. No fries option. You can get a Bag of chips. Like your mom would pack in your lunch. A bag of plain Lay's potato chips. The lasagna was underwhelming, and the salad was successfully made of lettuce. I really don't think we'll be back for a long time, maybe just for a couple drinks? Certainly can't recommend it to friends and family when they visit. Real shame too. Whatever mojo this restaurant had before seems to be lost now.
A bit on the spendy side but cheaper than alternative restaurants open Sunday evening. Busy, friendly, clean with comfortable seating indoor and out. 25 min wait for a table: worth it. My burger was very good, juicy and full of flavor! Served with cheesy mashed potatoes. Too full for dessert I'll have to come back.
Ate dinner here last night & it was yummy! Service was great. I had the Mac n cheese with bread crumbs & bacon.. my husband had the bison tenderloin. For dessert we shared peach cobbler. Would definitely eat here again!
Fantastic atmosphere, helpful staff (Hard-working and adorable Sharon rocks!!), great salads and the Bloody Mary was awesome!!! If there is any criticism to be had from this Italian boy is that the focaccia that was served is not what we consider focaccia - good bread though!
Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and yummy food. We ordered the Adobe Chicken, Jalapeño Lime Chicken, some Mac and cheese for our little one and as desert the bread pudding with fresh brewed coffee. All of that was just perfect in taste and price performance!
We went to this cafe at 730 pm and had to wait for 40 minutes. We tried the salad, soup, adobe chicken, curry, and steak. The steak was ok. The salad and the curry were fine. However, the adobe chicken was great, the meat was very tender and juicy. I also enjoyed the potato side, which was mixed with cheese. It was very busy even at 9 pm so the waitress was not very attentive. Overall a nice cafe worth visiting in this town.
Incredible personal attention. You're literally spoiled while enjoying a menu as imaginative as the creations it proffers are delectable. All that and a truly charming period Southwest ambiance, featuring various works of art in the same idiom.
The food is excellent, but the portions are extremely small. I paid over $15 for a tiny bowl of soup and salad. I thought I could share with my spouse who ordered an entree, but the portions were too small. Very expensive for what you get. Typical Kanab tourist place with expensive food and small portions it sucks to be a local and never get to eat out because they are over charging the tourists for small amounts of food.
Stopped by for a quick lunch after hiking this morning. Today's soup was a curry mushroom, and it was delightful. The salad I got with it was basically the same as a bagged salad from the grocery store. I recommend the soup! But not the salad. :)
I had the jalapeno-lime chicken. Excellent and subtle blend of flavors. The portion is perfect, it is obvious the owner or chef is passionate about serving nutritious and fresh food. The dish came with a great balance of beans, rice, and avocado. This was a waitress recommendation. Will visit again
Super friendly with very tasty food. The focaccia that came with the food was fantastic as was the balsamic oil spread. The brussel sprouts were smothered in a very tasty sauce. The pasta was delicious. The bison was very tender, and absolutely fabulous. I had never had bison before and this was super delicious.
