My son and I visited The Blockhouse for the first time this morning. I'm in my 70's and I can honestly say those were the best biscuits I've ever had in my life! We both ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy. Absolutely outstanding!!!
So glad we found this place. We love coming here. Food is always fresh and service is always excellent. Beautiful views from the outside patio.
The BEST spot for breakfast, brunch and lunch! My favorite are the waffles with blueberries. The grilled chicken sandwich is another favorite for lunch. The fresh pastries and treats are a must try! Had the best Mocha coffee of my life!! Highly recommend. Don't let the line on the weekend deter you from staying and eating. It moves fast and you won't regret it once you get your order to the take! My favorite place and it's right down the road. Couldn't be happier. BONUS: They have a DRIVE-THRU window! Everyone on staff is so nice!
Great food. Great service. A bit noisy with a full house on Mothers Day morning, but the staff were humming along to keep things moving like a fine tuned watch. I highly recommend the Block House. My only complaint is they are only opened 4 days a week.
It was hard to choose a meal! All the food looked amazing. Service was fast and everyone was very friendly. Outside seating area provides a great view. Food was delicious. Must try all the baked goods!
My wife and I stopped by on our way back to Houston. Everything we had was homemade and amazing. My wife had the breakfast and I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was a special. This was a welcome stop after all of the tourist traps on the riverwalk. Please take a slight detour to visit.

Shrimp and grits were delicious! Probably some of the best I have ever had. The service was excellent. The scenery out back was also beautiful. We really enjoyed our breakfast here and will come back when in the area again. Wish we had a place like this closer to us :)

Here are my thoughts on the Blockhouse. I'll give the criticism first. 1) More help needed to take orders at register or better yet take the orders at the tables. 2) Wait staff are super polite but not attentive enough. Too busy with silverware or bussing tables. Need to realize customers need refills and boxes. 3) Chicken Fried steak. Other than a little salt needed 5/5. 4) Order of potatoes...perfection 5/5 5) Eggs were fluffy 5/5 6) Sweet tea. Some of the best Southern tea I've tasted. 5/5 7) Fruit tart. It tasted like it danced across my tongue. The thin light crispy airy flavors of the crust. The delicious cream on top that played nicely with the strawberries and blueberries. Best tart I've ever had 5/5. 8) Presentation 5/5 9) Pricing. I keep reading the reviews on prices other than the credit card fee for inflation that should not be there. I do not find the prices to be higher than other places. The portion of food I received was huge for the price.
The got the taste, they just do, simple plates that taste beautifully good. And the coffee, that kind of awesome drink hits and they know how to brew it. I have tried different coffee in the area and no one gets what they offer. There are a few crew members that dominate the art of espresso :) amazing place, they are kind and awesome
If you’re looking for a place to sit down and enjoy breakfast, this is not the place for you. Dining room area is closed and only a long wait in the drive through is available and staff recommends you sit in your vehicle to eat. Of course you only learn of this after you’ve made the drive out. I will not be back to this place.
Great country style food and excellent service. It has a relaxing environment and is a hidden gem. The building is old, but you wouldn't know it by looking. They did an amazing job on the remodel.
Need a ⭐️10⭐️ option for this one!! Two of us got omelets and one got the regular breakfast. Of course, we had to get an order of French toast for the table! We bought a cinnamon roll for the road in case we get hungry out house hunting today! Service was awesome and food was second to none! This was our first visit based on reviews and we will FOR SURE be back!
Literally our favorite place to grab brunch. Service is always top notch and so is the food. It's a little bit pricey but it's completely, 100% worth it. I don't like arugula but I absolutely devoured the arugula salad, it's just so delicious! I also highly recommend the wafflewich and the egg sandwich alongside a strawberry lemonade. It's a little loud inside but as long as you don't mind that, it's the perfect spot to grab brunch. Even their plain drip coffee is amazing, coming from a barista.
