Coffee was okay. Definitely not worth the price. I ordered an iced americano and it was very acidic, not my preference. We also had a cappuccino and the milk was not properly frothed. Parking was $4 and we were only there to grab our drinks. I know it's near a tourist side so I'll let it slide.

The service was friendly and really it was a typical coffee shop. Except for the serving sizes. We asked for 2 medium Lates and we were charged 11$ for two thimbles of coffee that was a little acrid for my taste.

Best Coffee in San Antonio! They have amazing offerings of pour over coffees and espresso. You can’t go wrong! The staff was super kind! Definitely check them out!!

Great spot. Street parking nearby, but will also validate lot parking for an hour or something (maybe more). Ambience is friendly, relaxed. Coffee is great. Has 2 bathrooms. Has outdoor and indoor seating. Big windows, lots of light. Thanks for being awesome, Brown.

Coffee was pretty good but choices are slim. Chill place and comfy seating. Bathroom was absolutely disgusting though which was a major turn off.

Coffee is excellent and varied. Baristas obviously pros. Everyone is friendly. Limited snacks: pastries, quiche, pastrami sandwich (excellent). No tea. Couple beers. Indoor and outdoor seating. Chill music. Handful of folks working on laptops. Plugs at every indoor seat. They can validate lot parking for 90 minutes. Or park on the street for free. Service animals only inside. Left my hoodie on a chair. Came back the next week and they had it in the back. 🙏 The above is as of April '23.

The best, most consistent cup of coffee in town! I always know my latte or cold brew will be great every time I go here.

I have been a customer of Brown Coffee since around the time it was founded as an only-Black- coffee outlet, on Broadway (street, highway, whatever). It went through a lot of nearby building and Broadway construction, with dust, extra noise, and detours very nearby. So, it opened this nice outlet in Southdown. I personally didn't like the bitter taste of the Americano drink i bought and am presently trying to drink. Plus the "cup" is tiny, per a 4$ Americano. I drink it Black, so it must be excellent, otherwise i notice the inferiority. It's true that the volume measurement standard for a cup is 8 fluid ounces, but i doubt this tiny cup holds 8 ounces. Also: what volume does 1 shot of espresso mean here? Nevertheless, at 7 AM, this is the only espresso coffee shop that's open. I should have kept on going to my taco shop that also offers coffee, though it is "brewed" type - easier on the stomach due to the water content. My hair is standing up on end!!

Very nice coffee and we visited a couple of times during our weekend in town. Service was prompt and our visits were early, so it was quiet too. No skim milk as a heads-up for anyone looking for it but they do have non dairy alternatives. ☕

The food was decent, the staff were rude and pretentious. The atmosphere there is essentially pretentious coffee nerds that will judge you if you like cream or sugar with your coffee. The coffee itself wasn't terrible, there's no communication about the region of type of roast, etc. You'd think that if you were going to be a jerk about someone asking for oat milk or whatever you'd at least explain why the coffee is special. None of that here, they just seemed irritated that you're even in the building, snarky, and drained of all enthusiasm for what they do. To top it off, the closest parking lot is $8 for an hour... No thanks, I love good coffee, but I want to go to a place I feel welcome and warm. This wasn't it. Edit: I had a chance to read some of the owners responses to negative reviews and the problem is clearly from the top down. Coffee snobbery at its highest. I don't see this location lasting another year or 2 at most. Trash attitudes get trash results.

I live in Seattle and the hipster vide in this place is off the hook. That being said the coffee is really good.

Here’s how a positive customer interaction could go: “so, I’m happy to give you a side of milk if you want it, but try the pour over first without milk and let me know what you think.” Whoaa! Happy customer who isn’t insulted. Gains your trust. Is empowered to make her own decisions about what she consumes. Wow. Everybody learns. Instead I have an SNL-worthy story for the ages. After an absurd back and forth, I had to order both a drip coffee and a pour-over in order to get a side of oat milk (I’m not kidding, but jokes on me, I guess). I ordered both drinks and then went back for a peanut butter cookie. I dipped the cookie in the milk, took a bite, dipped again, and then poured that milk in my pour over. And you know what? It was delicious. Revenge is sweeter than a Guatemalan roast. The pour over tasted great without milk, by the way, but being told how I’m not allowed to enjoy my beverage while the other baristas smile smugly as I stand there in disbelief? Well, that’s disgusting. Poorly extracted. Dare I say, bitter? Do better.

Gorgeous spot with good study vibes. Has lots of seating and ambient music going. The cortave was the perfect amount of sweet while still having a strong coffee flavor. The barista was very friendly and even explained how they roast their own beans. Would recommend!

Coffee enthusiast here, hello! I was in the area after church service and decided to park in the area of Brown Coffee - the parking prices are high, but if you’re going to be in the area and visit more than one place the price is totally worth it. I ordered the Cold Brew “Dirty” and a walnut chestnut cookie. I enjoyed the cookie, it was delicious. The coffee was smooth and rich with a beautiful 3D ice cube! The ambiance is great here - I studied a little, worked on finances, and read my Bible. Will definitely be back soon!

I love this place!! It’s downtown and I live on the north side of SA but we always make the drive just for this coffee shop. My husband and I are huge coffee people and go to different shops frequently but Brown always stands out to us time and time again. Their quality of drinks is second to none. Even down to the type of oat milk they use (gum and additive free). The baristas are super knowledgeable and seem to truly enjoy their jobs. You can hang out at this spot for hours and not feel pressured to leave, etc. I’ll never stop bragging about Brown. Best spot for speciality coffee!
