Really great experience. Definitely pricey but margaritas were great, some of the most delicious grilled octopus and chicken I’ve had! Nice place for a special occasion 💯
I love finding new gems! Came for a work happy hour and never knew this place existed. We were a party of 6 and sat very comfortably in a spacious booth. Drinks, service and food were great. Artichoke dip was dank and i had the turkey sam - delicious.
Pretty place. The portions, level of deliciousness and prices do not add up. Small amount of very standard-tasting food (& drink) for a very high price point
Unbelievable restaurant. One of the best meals I've ever had. If you like upscale Mexican food, go here. I was blown away.
We really enjoyed the Tacos de pecados, great texture combinations and sauce. The grilled octopus was a pleasant surprise, the smokiness of octopus and sourness from the pickles worked really well. Not a fan of the duck mole , a little too bitter for our liking. bone marrow taco was too rich and a little too sweet. Overall, great dinning experience, attentive service. The menu is fun but can be a hit and miss.
Bone Marrow Tacos!!!! EPIC!! Great service and super delicious food! Family style dishes, which is cool however the avocado tostada was tiny and not very shareable among 4 people so you’ll need to order a couple of them so you can really enjoy it - everything else was great though and shareable for a table of 4!
Service is great. You should do what I did, and just have the staff order for you. They know what’s good, and if you don’t mind spending a couple hundred then it is an incredible experience.
I’ve been to Comedor about 4 times and this experience left me quite embarrassed that I’ve hyped it up so much to family when they visited Austin. The patio was covered due to the rain but we were straight up sitting in the dark, not even a tea light. Our server was attentive but definitely mislead us to order waaaaay more food than we needed. We felt pressured multiple times to keep ordering…and you know whah happened. 3 of the last dishes we didn’t even touch just immediately had to box up. We were oversold and it felt icky. For spending over $500 before tip we felt a little just bamboozled by the service. We were also sat near the servers meeting point but the POS and we caught one of the servers just spitting on the floor. Im not against that but like, maybe take that to Colorado or 5th street? Maybe not on the patio where guests are spending a pretty penny to eat. The Tuna Aguachile, Fish Tacos, Bone Marrow Tacos and Ribs were delicious! Thank god at least the food held up to my hype! I would stay away from the Duck Tamal, unless you and your entire table really LOVE duck.
Absolutely spectacular food and drinks, and the bartender that served us was top notch!! We were there for our anniversary and he got everyone to sign a congratulations note! We were blown away by every detail.
We had some of most incredible dishes we have had in recent times. The tuna aguachile was divinely surprising. The reason for the 4 stars are down to the duck and the desert being really disappointing, to the noise level and the cold temperature inside the restaurant.
We went on the recommendation of our hotel and honestly didn’t like a single thing we ordered. The duck was inedible, mojitos were terrible, the tuna tasted old and overall the food was overpriced and it felt like want to be haute cuisine. We left after a few bites and had to find a different place to eat . The stag was nice though, the space was very dark but the design was interesting
an unforgettable experience one of my best favorite restaurants for food and unique drinks
Came here for our anniversary and Fitz was our server. We had an amazing experience and the food was all delicious! The staff signed a card for us, it was so sweet! We will be coming back.
It’s a very seclusion restaurant (like it doesn’t look like the restaurant at all from outside) and the entrance is hard to find. I like how private it feels but some people find it pretty confusing. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. They offered a few tables for us to choose from and we picked one of the high tops close to the bar counter. We went there for dinner and the menu is more on the pricey end - almost NYC level. However, the restaurant does give an energetic and fun vibe. All the cocktails we tried were great and they were pretty generous on the portion when I ordered shots of don julio 1942. Things I didn’t like much about this place: 1) due to the design of the building, it gets very noisy and loud. Not a quiet date night experience. 2) it’s too dark at nights. I’d recommend them to turn more lights on during the dinner time Overall a fun experience and I’d still recommend everyone to go at least once.
We didn't have a reservation, but we showed up early, and the hostess graciously showed us to a table for two. We were in Dallas for a 2-day business trip and opted to try appetizers at several highly recommended spots. Comedor is apparently known for their bone marrow tacos. That sounded delicious so we headed that direction. As far as the atmosphere goes, this place was one of the cooler spots we visited. It was industrial yet quaint and romantic. Our server was sharp, highly educated about the menu, and was quick to offer suggestions when we asked. As much as we wanted the bone marrow tacos, we couldn't stomach the price, so we opted for charred octopus, the beef tartare, and a tuna aguachili dish. We really enjoyed all three dishes but kicked ourselves for not ordering the bone marrow. Maybe on our next visit....
The staff was a little off putting for my taste, but OMG THE FLAVORS!!! These tacos were SO GOOD. However, I disagree that they were "sharable" LOL. Overall, the food was DELICIOUS!! However, it is very pricey for the portions you get. Worth a visit, but just be prepared.
The place was a tad too dark, vibe was great and food was good. Nothing out of this world but worth trying. I would come back for drinks only.
The best meal I had in Austin! It was such a creative menu and presentation, our table really enjoyed the tuna aguilache, beef tartare, grilled octopus, bone marrow, sundae, and the tajin pavlova. We also got some cocktails and mock tails and thought those were tasty too. Everything was extremely delicious and we had an amazing time eating here. The service was extremely attentive without being overbearing. We definitely will come back again!
Beautiful restaurant and amazing food! Cocoa tails were delicious! Pretty pricey, but definitely a unique experience!
I wish these star ratings would let us use the decimals! I’d give it a 4.8. I thought the ambiance was lovely. Food was really good, drinks incredible. A little pricey even if it is “elevated” Mexican. A tostada is still a tostada. However, if I lived closer, I’d definitely try more of the menu.
