Very cute but confusing set up, when you walk in its not clear whether to seat your self or wait to be seated so we just picked a table. A server never came to us so we went to the counter and was asked for a ticket. When we said we were waiting for a server one came over but didn't bring menus. Over the course of our meal we literally had 4 different servers, 1 took our drink, another brought them (missing 2 of the 5), the 1st came to take our order and skipped a member of the party twice. When our food was ready 3 different servers brought the food but were missing an appetizer and was very confused when we asked about it. When we were done we went to the register and was checked out by one of the 4 servers we had so we have no idea who our tip went to. The food was very good and well priced but we had a very weird experience.

If you're passing through or visiting Wartburg you really got to stop here. We didn't have a lot of time and got our breakfast to go (which was nice of them to do). It's a great location with lots of antiques and old country store atmosphere. At checkout the red velvet cake looked good so we got a slice. It took a little while to get someone to get it cut for us but it allowed us longer to look around and admire the building. Good food, good service, great place to stop by.

We went up to Wartburg this afternoon shopping for memorial day flowers and decided to have lunch at Tanner's Historic Cafe. They have sandwiches, hamburgers and cheeseburgers. I had the cheeseburger and onion rings. They were both awesome. I swiped a fry and they are great as well. Either is a good choice. They also had a special with mashed potatoes and hamburger steak. It looked really good. The atmosphere was very nice. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Great little old school restaurant. Felt like stepping back in time. They have an old-fashioned soda fountain, which is still in use. The food was pretty solid, I had the bacon chessburger, and it was 7-8 out of 10. If you are ever near Wartburg, stop in and give this place a try.

Food was excellent loved the potato soup. Husband had the burger and chips he absolutely loved it. The staff was welcoming and so kind and took time to talk. We will definitely be back we are excited to try the milkshakes.

I do not eat chicken steak very often but when I do in the future, it will be at Tanner's. It should not be a special...it should be on the menu permanently!

If I could add more stars I would!! This place was outstanding! From the minute you walk into this historic place in Wartburg, Tennessee you will learn not only from the customers who are like family but from the warm and welcoming staff who go above and beyond to help you select menu items and share the historical details about this quaint eatery! The homemade ice cream is not to be missed!

The food and service are excellent! Great potato soup, chicken salad on croissant, and one of the best bacon double cheeseburger’s I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere in historic building.

I'm so happy to have a place for a restaurant, sit down and be served breakfast in Wartburg. The place is historic and was donated by the Tanner's in exchange for the nonprofit to keep the name and to preserve the history. It's quaint! The weekend breakfast is nice early on Sat and layer on Sun. I haven't tried the Thursday and Friday lunch but am looking forward to it. There is a special on Thursday. I saw bourbon meatloaf that I was sorry missed. For a nice drop in get Mayfield ice cream! The people are so nice there. We got invited to a lecture a few doors down the Sun we went. Posting weekend menu.

One of the best places we went to! Food was fantastic! We will be back. It has been restored from the early 1900’s and has some very unique pieces.
