Absolutely incredible! The staff is amazing. We showed up 15min early for our reservation and were taken into a room I can only describe as a high end speak easy where the bartenders made us amazing drinks. When our table was ready we had two staff members waiting on on us the entire night and the food and service was impeccable. We felt like VIPs the entire time.
I don't even know where to start. I don't leave reviews often, but when I do, it's to acknowledge an outstanding experience, something The Standard delivered and exceeded our expectations! I have been to 40 states and 30 countries, and I can truly say that this was in the top three best dining experiences of my life. That being said, my wife and I have lived around Nashville for a few years and have always wanted to eat here, and this weekend couldn’t have been a better excuse to splurge. My wife became a U.S. citizen this past week, then a few days after, it was our fourth wedding anniversary, and then next week is her birthday! Unfortunately, no reservations were available, but Sharon helped us get in at the last minute on a Saturday. We’re so unbelievably lucky and grateful because I NEEDED that experience. We arrived at 7:45 sharp and were whisked away to our table, where Rylee took care of us for the evening. The ambiance was so warm and inviting. The restaurant was quiet, with music playing subtly in the background, with tunes like Frank Sinatra to set the mood. We started with some drinks and the Filet Tartare. When I say it was another level, it was on another level. We were about to order another, but Rylee showed up with our Caesar salad, the best I’ve had in a long time. From there, the main course arrived – I was close to getting the seabass, but my wife talked some sense into me, and we both went with the Standard Filet. This is why men need a better half because sometimes, you need sense talked into you! My wife was spot-on, and this was, by far, the best steak I’ve ever eaten, which says a lot because I’ve been to steakhouses in Brazil and Argentina, two countries known for their beef. This blew those out of the water. We both ordered it rare, and it was cooked to perfection. We savored every bite. I don’t usually eat that slowly, but I needed to make this last. Finally, the last bite came, and I was so sad. Everything about this was perfection – th
Feb 2023 Everyone should go there at least once. It is an experience! Food is amazing! The creamed corn is exceptional! I had the pork Chop this last time...AMAZING!! The Filet I've had before and it is amazing as well!! Our server has been our server both times...suberb!! The 1881 steak was more than Amazing!!!
Amazing, personable experience. Hostess was very welcoming, informative and helpful. Waiter was very insightful and approachable with any questions we had. The building is very historic and the staff have endless facts on the details of it. The food was all amazing and freshly prepared.
Group dinner in the Grand Ball room was perfect. Amazing historic atmosphere and super food and service. We will eat with them again.
Service and atmosphere is amazing. Food was not up to expectations. Lobster bisque soup was too salty to eat and order the the Standard which the filet was good but to potato was cold . Maybe it was just a bad day for the chef. However our hostess and server were top notch.
Very nice meal with great service in a beautiful, historic setting.
This place is incredible. Old, classic house with old school style and service. The pork chop was like eating desert. Very, very special place.
It's the oldest private residence in Nashville, met the hostess who was lovely and all the staff were great! We had dinner at a private event in the wine cellar and all food was fantastic . As well they have a spin on the Old Fashioned, called the New Fashioned... It's worth a try!
I always enjoy taking myself out when traveling, and finding something that my taste buds deserve is nice. I had never been to The Standard, and figured during my first Nashville visit why not really treat myself to something good. The Standard is that and more! First, the owner, Sharon is an amazing host. We were informed about the lovely history of the establishment, she led us to our table, and made sure we were comfortable where we sat. Next, the atmosphere. Very timely, feels large, feels special, and feels cozy. This building has been around for over a century but they took care of it, and I felt like I found a secret treasure coming here. The staff was very kind and dressed well. The menus are slim and simple, which is great. I did not feel at all overwhelmed by the options, and everything sounded so good. The wine menu looked very good and the desserts 👌🏽 ...my goodness! I got myself the sea bass. Probably one the worst decisions I could make... because now The Standard...is the standard! It was absolutely delicious. Followed up so well after the calamari and lobster dip for appetizers. I recommend both of those. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and presented with such care. The filet my friends ordered was cooked just as well and they loved it. Now, let me tell you about these desserts. That chocolate cookie and ice cream has never tasted this good. It did not at all feel like too much after the main course. My stomach had the space. The appetizers are not overbearing, the entrees are not too large and fill you up just enough. The sides (I had the mac and cheese) are such a tasty surprise. The dessert was the cherry on top! I will be returning when I head back to Nashville, that is for sure! As far as price, it may be on the higher end, sure, but this is a treat everyone should experience, if they are able to.
We were here to celebrate our friends 50th birthday and they were Soo nice & accommodating. Beautiful building, wonderful service, and fantastic food! We plan to be back!
The restaurant looks great, but the food was terrible. My sister and I stopped here before we went to a show in Nashville. The restaurant was less crowded than the other places we passed and it looked like a nice restaurant. Boy were we wrong. We ordered steaks and they were beyond bad. We didn't eat them. They tried to remedy by giving us dessert, but the dessert was also bad and we didn't finish it either. Will never come here again the next time we're in Nashville.
What an experience. We went here for a large party dinner, 20 of us, they seated us in a private dining room. Mrs Smith came out and gave us the history of the house and restaurant which was fascinating. They have done a great job keeping this prime example of mid 19th century architecture as close as possible to how it would have looked back in its prime. If you haven’t dined here you need to!
One of the best meals I have had in Nashville. Started with a mix of appetizers, each one superb in their own way. Had an entree of the Chilean sea bass with a Black Manhattan to drink. Ended the meal with a JD Single Barrel served neat. Delicious at every step.
Supreme experience. We reserved the wine cellar dining experience for our dinner with clients. The room was perfect and the service was 2nd to none. I can't say enough about the food. Every one of us raved.
Fantastic atmosphere, service, and great food! Better than any rooftop restaurant in Nashville.
Went for a private party. First class service and amazing food. Cocktails were out of this world. Highly recommended!
Absolutely the best. Steaks and appetizers were outstanding. Sharon Smith was an absolute class act. The atmosphere was phenomenal. Tennessee at it’s finest! You gotta check it out.
What an experience. Greeted by the owner. Bar staff top notch. Servers are awesome. Food is to die for. Highly recommend.
An all around phenomenal experience! Upon online reservation we received a confirmation call from hostess, Chelsea whom we also notified that there was a birthday in our party (a very nice touch you don’t find anymore when dining out). From there, she and the team got us first acquainted at the bar for drinks by the fireplace followed by dinner in a small intimate room. Nash, our waiter was excellent! His suggestions were spot on, leaving us satisfied and assured in our orders. The calamari was crispy, airy, and tender. The crab bisque was loaded with meat and an overall well balanced broth. The pork chop cut like butter. That simple. Sides were hearty and plentiful. Overall you definitely get a good amount for what you pay for here. If I having to choose one dessert, go with the warm cookie a la mode. It’s made to order and with a healthy scoop of ice cream. The Standard definitely says it all in it’s name when it comes to quality, care, and hospitality. If you’re looking for a unique and memorable experience I can’t recommend this place enough.
