Will stop for açaí bowls. Whenever i see one on a menu i will get it. The Bright Eyes açaí bowl at Blackbird Espresso is a game changer. Combining blueberries and lemon curd in a bowl?! Nom nom nom. They are my two favorite flavors! The bowl was $10 but amply sized. (I got mine to-go but we ended up staying due to a hail storm.) my husband got a pastie he loved and my kids got brownies. The lattes were also delicious. The menu was lengthy, with plenty of options. Need to stay awhile? There was plenty of seating, both indoor and out. The bathroom was clean. Everyone was friendly. Great spot. I’m not likely to ever be back in Spearfish, but I will be thinking about the açaí bowl for years to come.

The food was amazing, we had various pastries and the ploughman sandwich reminded us of a European breakfast sandwich.

Went to an early morning breakfast here with my mom and sister. I got the avocado toast, which was seasoned well and had lots of great flavor. My mom has celiac disease and they were able to make her quinoa breakfast bowl carefully and gluten free. Important to note though they cannot do it ‘certified’ gluten free, but were accommodating to her allergy. The smoothie bowl was also very refreshing and had delicious granola topping. An important note, as a matcha lover, Blackbird Expresso has two different types of matcha! I hadn’t heard of one of them and the barista kindly explained the difference. Overall, a fantastic experience in staff, quality of food, and service. We will be back again soon!!

We stopped twice while visiting SD. The drip coffee is excellent and their breakfast sandwiches are really tasty. Would definitely go back! It took a little while to get our food each time (15-20min) but they were busy and it was worth the wait.

This is my first coffee shop I have been to in town so I do not have much to compare it to. Blackbird had lots of indoor and out door seating. They had great pastries and açaí bowls with homemade granola. Their strawberry kiwi tea and americano were delicious but they were out of their nitro cold brew. They only allow service animals and they forgot one of our items we ordered but they brought it right out as soon as we asked about it. Other than that, they have great service, great portions, and adorable decor.

Stopped in on our road trip. I got a mocha, sister got a latte. Both delicious; great espresso. Strawberry rhubarb galette was fantastic as well.

Terrific coffee with awesome customer service. Prices were more than manageable!! Only downside was we went when it was busy so it was pretty cramped in there. Maybe next time, I order for outside.

We loved black bird so much we came here 3 days in a row while camping. The black coffee and cold brew were excellent, so were the lattes - the honey bee latte is amazing. The carefully curated menu was exactly what we look for in coffee shops - breakfast sandwiches were very addicting as were the baked goods! I would recommend asking customers if they want a baked good warmed or at least mention that they are in a cooler not just a pastry case - still wonderful cold though! Very impressive and appreciated the welcoming kind staff:) thanks for the wonderful food and positive vibes - our dog also says thanks for the dog treats!

They yell the name inside and you don’t hear it outside. Pasties are pretty good.
