Best coffee/lattes in Rapid City. Food is great & service is super friendly. They’re dog friendly with lots of outdoor seating. Definitely a must try!
Some of the best coffee in the Black Hills. The chorizo breakfast burrito is awesome. And you can sit outside.
The Avocado open face tastes like a booger sandwich. No seasoning, plain, barely toasted bagel with just too much fat. If I were to order again, I would have requested my bagel be toasted WELL, and get either the avocado OR the cream cheese NOT BOTH. The cream cheese would be fine by itself, but it ruins the avocado.

My first visit to this coffee shop for a meeting. Very pleasant shop, plenty of room for singles, couples or groups inside or outside in their pleasant patio seating. Menu is quite varied with many choices no matter the time of day. I am strictly an iced tea drinker and was surprised to see they had several tasty choices. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, serving your order quickly and with a smile. I would definitely go back to Essence of Coffee.
First time here and the staff was super friendly and patiently answered all my questions. The pastries are perfectly flaky and delicious. Great drink assortment as well! Got there close to closing so the kitchen was closed but I will definitely be back to try it sometime. Got the sausage roll, cherry scone, and custard tart.
We are blessed to have this coffee shop and restaurant in Rapid City. It's always my go-to when someone asks where to meet up. Excellent E cups to take home and brew your own too!
Got the Australia breakfast and it was the best. Great flavor and not greasy yes it came with sausage and bacon but wasnt a plate of grease, just the right amount of food to start the day oh and the coffee was good as well.
The coffee here it fantastic all on its own. it's a downtown gem.
Nice cozy place but food is overpriced and overrated - had their signature apple hash omelette that's $13 but it looked like a 5 year old made it. Coffee is solid.

Great little shop. We buy their coffee beans and grind at home. They actually roast their coffee right...never burnt like ALL of the beans at Starbucks.

This is one of our favorite spots in town and it probably has some of the best coffee in Rapid. Service is hit or miss at times. I usually have the apple sausage hash but without the apples (I am allergic and usually isn't a problem to have them removed), but when it's a busy morning, we will be told that it's all pre-mixed, which is a bummer. I understand that there are people who will lie about allergies just because they don't like a food, but I was really upset to get a fruit cup filled with apple chunks as a side for the wrap I got after sharing the allergy. Like I said, it doesn't happen often, but sometimes the service is hit or miss. Food and drink are good, I just wish it was consistent
