This place is a gem!! They are such a cool French bakery. The staff is so kind!! They definitely sell out of their stuff so get there earlier in the day. Big fan of their iced coffee!!
OMG. What a gem. On our way to Charlotte Premium Outlets, made a stop around 3 pm. They were out of most pastries, but managed to buy 2 croissants, 2 choux (cream puffs), 2 madeleines, & a latte. The madeleines were heavenly. Sorry no photo. The croissants were perfect. The choux was different, but the pistachio cream was addictive. I wish there were more to buy. Service was friendly. She even spoke French to the guy making my latte. Cool bank vault door to the lounge. Very cool.
Please just go! The food is so good! we were on our way to Florida, and our baby needed a break from the road and stopped on a whim. I've never had pastry so good, and everyone there was so sweet! I recommend the choux au craquelin!
Paid nearly $12 for two croissants. High quality food and people who own the place. However, $12 for $1 worth of food? Their days are limited with this arrogant french (european) thinking of, "I provide the food, you pay as I deem necessary." Perhaps the rent is too high. I don't know. They won't last long. This is THE best bakery in the area. Definitely worth your time to not only visit but also have it be a part of your regular routine.
Finally, the place where you can taste genuine French croissants and great coffee!!!! Definitely an A-place to visit
We heard about this bakery from a news story they did about them! My husband went the next morning at opening and got us a few treats to share. Absolutely delicious!!!!!!! Can’t wait to go back
Professional, delicious authentic bakery in the cutest building. This place is the full experience. If you haven’t been here for a visit yet, i highly recommend making the trip soon! You won’t regret it!
If I hadn't promised my girlfriend a hot chocolate on Mother's Day i would have never stood in like 30 MINUTES. The man working there was extremely nice and polite but apparently doesn't know how to make a cappuccino. Not sure why no one seems to know the difference between a cappuccino and a latte these days. Ugh.... $22 for two drinks and two small pastries seems a bit high as well. No reason to rush back here
Absolutely incredible people and food! Everyone needs to try it at least once, you’ll love it!
Best coffee in town fresh French pastry. I always love their coffee
Stopped by Saturday morning and found a french-style bakery run by very nice owners with tasty but over-rated and over-priced products. We visit France twice a year so we do know what fresh french baguettes and pastries should taste like but unfortunately we didn't find them here. We arrived when they open at 8:30am but the croissants and baguettes were not yet ready to come out of the oven. When the baguette was finally ready, it was nice and warm but was not as light and airy in the middle as we expect from a good baguette. The baguette crust was good but just a bit too dense inside and at $5 for a small baguette, is five times more expensive than what you would get at a French boulangerie. Also tried their madelines which were quite tasty with nice crunchy edges and ordered a bacon quiche which was tasty but not exceptional. Also ordered capuccinos which were good.
The food looked absolutely delicious and I’m sure it would have tasted nice. The reason for my low rating is the customer service. When I walked in they didn’t greet me or even attend me. I stood there for 7 minutes but was totally ignored. I got to anxious since it was my first time there and walked out. I wasn’t dressed nicely but the couple walking in was. I turned around and saw they walked out with food!! I am not sure if it was coincidence or what not but seemed really unfair to me that they got attended and not me.
Mado is the best French pastry shop. Real quality ingredients go into these delights.
I am French and know my pastries and viennoiseries very well. I used to live in Bordeaux and would get the best. Now that I am living in the Carolinas, I always try to find a bit of home where and when I can. Of course, people would say to try Amelie’s French bakery but I can honestly say to you that even if their pastries are good they are not authentic. When I found Mado bakery online and look at the pictures, I could already see that everything would taste exactly like the pastries that I’ll find in Bordeaux. And I was right, the macaroons are delicious, the best I have tested in the US and at the same level that the ones I used to eat back home. The choux pastries are unreal and show to me that the owners have the French savoir faire. If you want real authentic French « boulangerie » style pastries then you have to go there only. THE BEST!
Finally got a chance to pick up a chocolate croissant. It took me back to Paris when I studied abroad. It was heaven!
There are so many good things about this cafe that I do not even know where to start. My family and I are regulars, despite living about half an hour away. We usually come on Sundays to end the week on a relaxing and tasty note. The owners are very friendly, and it could not be more obvious that they have a passion for all they do and make there. They take the time to explain all the new items, of which there are everytime we go in, and to give recommendations. The menu is so varied each time we go, giving us a new experience each time- and yes there are some staple choices for those who like a little more routine. This place is a little slice of heaven, just like their treats. If you have a super busy lifestyle, or are in the slumps, this is the kind of place you make time for. When I say their coffee is incomparable, I mean it. You will not find another cafe nor a bakery of this quality anywhere near this area. If I could give 10 stars, I would.
Phenomenal coffee, pastries and breads! Plus the owners are lovely and greet you with such warmth and hospitality. I look forward to coming back soon!
I absolutely love a French bakery, and what Mado's offer is beyond delicious. All goods I tried were spot-on. The family that runs it are really nice and lovely. Highly recommend, but go early in the day.
The best French bakery! Serge and his family are so warm and inviting. If there’s a line it’s always worth the wait.
